THINGS TO DO IN BALI, INDONESIA | Top Attractions Travel Guide
Consider the following eight things to do in Bali, Indonesia as part of the attractions you consider during your travels.
When it comes to islands worth visiting in Southeast Asia, few can compete with the allure of Bali; however, if you're expecting a Utopian pristine paradise, as often is depicted in the movies and popular culture, you'll be in for a rude awakening. Bali is what it is -- unicorns and warts alike. Although there is stunning scenery, world class beaches and enchanting Hindu temples to explore there is also eyesore rubbish piles, filthy beaches and unscrupulous touts to content with.

2) Exploring the cultural hub of Ubud
3) Visit the Tegalalang Rice Terraces
4) Explore Hindu Temples
5) View Mount Batur from a distance
6) Explore surrounding beaches and islands
7) Visit Monkey Forest Temple
8) Hike up Mount Batur (an active volcano) for a spectacular sunrise viewing
Welcome to Bali, Indonesia!
After spending nearly a year travelling in Southeast Asia, we couldn't leave without first visiting Bali. We decided to take a 2 week trip to the famed island and split our time between Ubud and Sanur to explore as much as possible.
During one of our first nights on the island, we attended a Balinese fire and trance performance. This dance and music drama originated in the 1930s, depicting stories from Hindu literature.
Ubud is the art and cultural capital of Bali and we enjoyed spending a few days here. Our mornings in the town were spent visiting the various temples, browsing through markets, and soaking in the surroundings.
We also had a chance to visit the Tegalalang Rice Terraces. They were lush, green, and reminded us of our time in Korea because Sam's apartment overlooked rice terraces.
Bali is mainly Hindu and the island is home to many temples. During our time in Bali we visited the Elephant Temple, which is best known for its menacing cave entrance.
We also visited Gunung Kawi, which is nicknamed the Rock Temple. The rock temple gets its name because of the 10 shrines that were carved into the rock wall and stand 7 meters tall. They are truly a sight to behold.
Well, I am supposed to sprinkle water on my head, so here we go.
During our tour around the island, we stopped at a lookout point where we saw the impressive Mount Batur looming in the horizon. Mount Batur is an active volcano, however, when we learned that it was open to hikers, we decided we were up for the challenge.
Bali is a great jump off point for exploring some of the surrounding beaches and islands. Trips to Lombok, Nusa Lembongan, and the Gili Islands are very easy to arrange. There are plenty of water sports to choose from including snorkeling, free diving, scuba diving, surfing and even kayaking.
Ubud is home to the monkey forest where infamous little macaques roam freely. The monkey forest is home to over 600 monkeys, who over time have lost all fear of man. The monkeys are not shy and will approach people and even climb onto their bodies if they believe you have food. If you're feeling adventurous and would like to feed the monkeys, you can purchase bananas right at the entrance of the monkey forest.
One of the highlights of our time in Bali, was climbing Mount Batur for sunrise. The morning of the hike, we got up at 2 in the morning and were driven to the base of the volcano.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time in Bali! It may not have been the quiet paradise that's depicted in the movies, but it offered culture, natural beauty, and it was a great place to relax.

TRIP TO INDONESIA - YOGJAKARTA JOGJA - TRAVEL VLOG
Welcome to Yogjakarta Indonesia!
In this tour we visit central Java in the city of Yogyakarta (often called “Jogja”) to see Borobudur and Prambanan, two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
About 15 minutes from Yogjakarta's airport is Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia dating back to the 10th Century. It contains temples dedicated to the three main Gods of the Hindu Trinity - Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
Next we head to the Sultan's Palace where we see a glimpse into the Indonesian heritage.
We watch the Wayang, or Shadow Puppet performance, which is an Javanese art form listed with UNESCO. The puppets are etched in intricate designs and the stories are accompanied by the traditional gamelan music.
We visit a batik art shop to watch how this unique Javanese art form is created using wax and color on cloth and silk.
Next we try the local cuisine including snake fruit.
Finally, we reach Borobudur, one of the top three temples in Southeast Asia. Built in the 9th Century, it was built as a monument to educate about Buddhism. It is the largest Buddhist temple complete with nine levels topped by a central dome, making it 10, a number signifying perfection. There are 504 Buddha statues, each in different positions ranging from meditation, teaching, to enlightenment.

Beautiful temple island, Bali. I found another temple in the mountain. It is located in a difficult position to climb, and there are motorcycles lined up at the entrance of the temple. After a bargain, they climb on a motorcycle. It seems to be more expensive than I thought. I decided to go to the bus with the locals. I climb up an old bus and climb hard and hard along a winding mountain road. It takes about 10 minutes to get on the old bus which does not come out from the air conditioner and arrive at the entrance of the temple. You can go to the bus and walk for about 5 minutes to see the real temple. It is a temple of Lempuyang, where a simple ceremony was held at the entrance. Our role is to give sacred water so that sacredness does not change. At this time, I must wear this sarong, cloth. Tourists dressed in sarong are shrinking and wait for something. After that, the locals take the offerings and head to the temple. It is a place for prayer and tourists can not enter. Tourists lined up on the back of the temple entrance where the locals pray. As time goes on, the lines become longer and longer. I waited about 30 minutes. Why are you waiting? I waited for you to take a picture there. This is also where I come to take a so-called life picture. Pictures are more famous than temples. As people go to the line, the person in charge of the temple is taking photos of the people posing with their smartphones. It does not look so special. But the photographs taken are very different from those of the eyes. I'm curious about the secret of photography. The answer was in the reflector, which was put under the lens when taking pictures. This way, it looks like a nice photo that I just showed. Suddenly it starts to rain. It turns into a thick rain, and people hurry to avoid rain under the eaves. But this rainstorm can not stop the passion for taking pictures of mother and daughter. Mother and daughter who take a wonderful pose in the rain, is a great care.

Ngarai Sianok - Bukittinggi - West Sumatra - Indonesia
he hill town of Bukittinggi in the Minangkabau highlands, lies this breathtaking canyon which the locals call Ngarai Sianok, or the Sianok Canyon. Its panorama is particularly beautiful in the early morning light when the first rays of the sun pierce through the mist covering this deep valley that has majestic Mount Singgalang looming at its background.
Its beauty has been painted by many artists, most famous among whom was Ernest Dezentje, renowned painter in the “Mooi Indonesie” or Beautiful Indonesia style, favored by Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno.
Ngarai Sianok has two steep walls facing each other almost vertically, falling to a flat bottom where a river meanders among green ricefields. Its height is about 100 to 120 meters and the canyon itself is 15 km long. This gorge separates the towns of Bukittinggi and Kota Gadang on its opposite side.
The beauty of Sianok can be seen from Panorama Park in Bukittinggi or you can also walk down into the gorge, where are a settlement and paddy fields. Then crossing a bridge over the river, climb up to Kota Gadang, home of silversmiths who produce the finest filigree ornaments.
To enjoy the scenery from the Park, visitors pay an entrance fee of Rp 5.000 per person. Along with admiring the beauty of Sianok, visitors can also visit a Japanese bunker, built during World War II, located at the base of the canyon.
Ngarai Sianok is arguably the most beautiful scenery among West Sumatra’s many scenic sites, to be enjoyed particularly at sunrise or sunset.
