The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct that crosses the Gardon River near the town of Vers-Pont-du-Gard in southern France. The Pont du Gard, built as three tiers of archways to bring water to the city of Nîmes, is the highest of all elevated Roman aqueducts, and one of the best preserved. It was added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1985 because of its historical importance. The aqueduct bridge is part of the Nîmes aqueduct, a 50-kilometre system built in the first century AD to carry water from a spring at Uzès to the Roman colony of Nemausus . Saint-Véran au cœur du Parc Naturel Régional du Queyras (notrebellefrance, plus beaux villages)

Joignable par route depuis à peine plus d'un siècle, on pénètre dans le bourg constitué de plusieurs quartiers par la route en contrebas, et l'on découvre les constructions les plus anciennes, chalets de bois, belles galeries de greniers à fourrage, un puits, un four à pain. Les maisons sont isolées les unes des autres, cela permettait d'éviter que les incendies ne se propagent à tout le hameau. L'église présente un très beau porche à colonnes supportées par des lions.

Le village est animé, de nombreuses boutiques d'artisanats offrent un beau choix d'objets locaux. On peut aussi monter jusqu'à la chapelle Notre Dame de Clausis d'où la vue par beau temps est splendide.

Milhac-de-Nontron : Sortie du lieu-dit « Piogeat »

Le panoramearth est pris à la sortie (suivant le sens de la randonnée) du lieu-dit appelé « Piogeat ». Au début de la vidéo on voit la route qui relie « Piogeat » (derrière nous) à la route départementale D82E. Notez le petit sentier herbeux qui bifurque sur la droite en montant, c'est par là que se poursuit la randonnée, à flanc de colline. A la seconde 22 de la vidéo, un chemin goudronnée qui est l'une des entrée de « Piogeat » (un conteneur à ordures vert sur la gauche). La seconde entrée (ou sortie) est visible à la seconde 29. Sur la droite, en contrebas, coule le Trincou (un ruisseau) au milieu des arbres. Comme beaucoup de villages, sous des abords modestes, Milhac-de-Nontron est à découvrir. Habité dès la période néolithique, c'est au Moyen Age qu'il s'étoffe : église, chapelle de chantres, maladrerie tenue par l'Ordre de Saint-Jean, rappellent encore aujourd'hui le pouvoir de la foi. Le monde moderne y a fait passer une voie ferrée qui, tombée en désuétude, est devenue aujourd'hui une « Voie Verte » très fréquentée des promeneurs. Au sein du Périgord Vert et du Parc Régional Périgord Limousin, ce village offre un bel espace de détente et de randonnée. Entre forêts et prairies vous découvrirez le Périgord Vert au cours de cette randonnée, avec les résineux sur les collines granitiques, entre lesquelles se faufile la Dronne. A l'est, des feuillus, des truffières et des vallons secs à l'ouest du parcours. Au deux-tiers du parcours vous longerez un minuscule aérodrome, perché sur une colline. Peut-être y verrez-vous s'exercer un as du pilotage !
