Let's explore Sendai City...
We start, as many do, in front of Sendai (train) Station. We then hop onto the Sendai City Loop Bus (Loople Sendai) and ride the bus out of the heart of city, up to the location of Aoba Castle. Where there are terrific views over the city skyline below.
We head back into the city centre to see some folks taking photos with a group of samurai warrior cosplayers. Finally, we take a walk down Asaichi Market street and check out the rich selection of foods they have for sale.
I hope you enjoy your spring day exploring Sendai City. If you did please leave a comment below!

My name is Rob Dyer. I was born in England and have been exploring Japan since 2000. In 2001 I married my Japanese wife in a traditional ceremony in a Shinto Shrine.
My wife and I now split my time between Japan and the UK.
As The Real Japan, I share inspiration and resources for discovering and exploring Japan beyond the cliches - The Real Japan. I have a passion for those off-the-beaten track places and I love to share my experiences. If you're really serious about discovering and exploring The Real Japan, I've personally put together a free guide to Amazing Adventures in Japan that you really need to get a copy of. In that guide I cover 5 (actually there's 6 - but don't tell anyone!) unforgettable adventures in Japan, spanning the northern most and coldest island of Hokkaido, through the main island of Honshu, and down to the sub-tropical southern island of Okinawa. What's more, 2 of those amazing adventures are completely free - so won't cost you a penny!

My Adventures in Japan, May 2014: Hondori, Hiroshima
Hondōri is a commercial area in Naka-ku, Hiroshima, Japan, which centers on the Hondōri street which today is a shopping arcade. Hondōri, which means Main Street, runs from Hatchōbori to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. It is a pedestrian arcade that is closed to traffic and lined with shops and restaurants. The entire shopping area along Hondōri was destroyed by the 1945 atomic bombing, due to the blast and fire. Hondōri was reconstructed in 1950. It stretches east about half a kilometer and the general opening hours for the shops on the arcade are from 9/10 in the morning until 9/10 at night.
