Things to do in Big Bear Lake in the Fall -
Amie and I were invited to spend two days in Big Bear, and this video shows all of the spots we visited during our time in the city. We had wanted to go to Oktoberfest for a while, so that was the main reason we went, but of course, we found a lot of other adventures to do while we were there as well. Check out the video to see our recommendations for how to spend a weekend in Big Bear.

California travel expert Veronica Hill of tours Big Bear Lake and Big Bear City in this episode of California Travel Tips.
This Big Bear video highlights Big Bear hotels such as Northwoods Resort, Big Bear restaurants like Sweet Basil Bistro and Evergreen restaurant and Big Bear activities including the Pirate Ship tour, which takes you on a 1 1/2 hour tour around the lake, passing the Big Bear house of cartoonist Mike Judge, historic Big Bear cabins near Garstin Island, and the Big Bear lodge used in the movie War Games.
At the Big Bear Discovery Center, you can go gold panning, join a kayak or canoe tour, or hike the Pacific Crest Trail. Alpine Slide Big Bear offers cool bobsled rides, miniature golf and go-kart racing. And at the Snow Summit Big Bear Sky Chair, you can ride a ski lift 8,200 feet to the top for a scenic picnic or mountain bike ride down Big Bear mountain. Pedestrians can take the chair round-trip, or also hike down the trails. The Big Bear restaurant, View Haus, offers barbecue-style dishes during the summer.
After a long day on the mountain, rest your tired bones at the Big Bear spa, Elevations, which offers massages, facials, body scrubs and other spa services.
Big Bear weather averages about 300 days of sunshine per year, though you should bring a light jacket, even in the summer. At higher elevations, it can still get chilly. During the winter, Big Bear snow can come unexpectedly, so always be prepared with snow chains and four-wheel drive if possible. The narrow roads to Big Bear resort can be quite dangerous during inclement weather.
Big Bear cabin rentals are available year-round, or if you prefer there are some beautiful Big Bear bed and breakfasts, such as the Windy Point Inn and Inn at Fawnskin.

Big Bear City - Southern California Mountain Living
Big Bear City is an unincorporated township of San Bernardino County located in the central portion of the Big Bear Valley, east of Big Bear Lake and west of Baldwin Lake. It's bordered by the San Bernardino National Forest on the north and south.
The City has a rich early history of cattle, fox farming and logging. It was home to the world class resort, the Peter Pan Woodland Club. Roy Rogers shot the film, Don't Fence Me In at the resort.
The Big Bear City Airport was established in the 1930's as a simple dirt strip between the mountains. It continues to service small private planes and jets. The airport is centrally located at an elevation of 6,752 feet above sea level.
The 2010 census recorded the population of Big Bear City at 4,394 people and the area has 4,530 housing units. The City is a mostly residential area laid out in typical square block fashion. The commercial area runs along Big Bear Boulevard and is home to restaurants and retail businesses.
Though its south boundary is loosely defined by the residential boundary, the north side is defined by North Shore Road. The east-west postal divider of Big Bear City is Green Way Drive.
Big Bear City area has a friendly neighborhood feel with many of the homes occupied by full time residents. Stanfield Marsh is adjacent to the airport and is a popular area for biking, hiking, and viewing nature including several nesting bald eagles.
