For my final Irish story, I visit Cahersiveen where there are some Stone Forts that may well been the home of my Shea ancestors. I also revisit Knocknabar Mountain, where on an earlier trip to Ireland I heard an interesting story about Celtic traditions and lost sheepdogs.

Camping on the Ring of Kerry, Ireland - Ep. 15
After a fantastic meal in Cahersiveen, it was time to head over to our campsite, Mannix Point. We found a wonderful spot to set up the tent right on the edge of the sea and just in time to watch the sun set over the mountains. Then the rain and wind started during the night but wasn't going to stop us from venturing on through more of the Ring of Kerry. As we went, the terrain became even more dramatic and the clouds and rain gave the landscape a mystic quality. Each twist and turn revealed another beautiful view of mountains and lakes as we headed to our next site to set up camp.
For our first time camping together, we definitely set the bar high!

Ring of Kerry Nine Hour Tour in 15 Minutes!
The Ring of Kerry is a very scenic 111 mile circular route in County Kerry in southwestern Ireland. It features some of the best natural beauty that Ireland has to offer. We took an all day tour from the town of Killarney. Along the way we saw Dingle Bay, the towns of Kells, Cahersiveen, Waterville, and Sneem; the Skellig Islands, and beautiful Killarney National Park, featuring the Upper Lake and Torc Waterfall. An unforgettable tour!

The Kerry Way, Ireland: From Kells to Glenbeigh
The boiler plate Kerry Way long distance trail goes from Waterville to Cahersiveen but we didn't have enough days to include this destination. Instead, our Klondyke House B&B drove us to Kells from where we continued along the Kerry Way to Glenbeigh. It was a pretty straight forward hike over hilly terrain, rocky, grass and mountain tracks with the usual amounts of boot-sucking mud.
Following excellent directions and topographic map, it was a no-brainer to Emir View House B&B where we quickly showered and went out to explore Glenbeigh; not hard to do since the town stretched for maybe, three blocks. A wonderful meal at interesting Towers Hotel Pub finished off a good day that may not have been sunny but also didn't rain.
A Visitors Guide to Driving in Ireland: A Flavour Of Irish Roads!
This video might give visitors to Ireland, particularly those not used to driving on the left (the 'wrong' side!!), an idea of the variety of road conditions that they will generally encounter when driving in Ireland.
There are four road classifications in Ireland - in order of importance : - Motorways ('M', max. speed 120km), National ('N', max. speed 100km), Regional ('R', max. speed 80km) and Local ('L', max. speed 80km). The standard of motorways will be the same throughout the country. However, the same cannot be said for 'N', 'R' and 'L' roads - their standards can vary significantly - even on the same road - and you will often find that the quality of sections of an 'R' road can be better than those on an 'N' road, and sections of an 'R' road can be worse than those on an 'L' road - the designation of 'N', 'R' or 'L' for a particular road, does not necessarily imply a particular standard for that road designation. You will see in this video, samples of 'N' roads at 3:23, 'R' roads at 4:48, 'L' roads at 7:51.
It is impossible to constantly maintain or sometimes even approach the posted max. speed limits on some of the roads, so don't try. You drive at the speed that is comfortable for you at all times, even is it means creeping through a narrow spot in a town/village or pulling over to let others behind, to overtake you. You simply, drive with care, and you will be fine.
