// Paris, a bit of you
Parisian and in love with Paris, I took a long walk through my city. Equiped with my favorite tool, my video camera, I tried to catch some lifetime moments, different atmospheres and show you places I deeply like. The videos were shot 2 years ago. Paris a bit of you is the first video of my Paris series.

A secret rooftop garden in Paris!!
This secret rooftop garden is nested at the top of the iconic Galeries Lafayette building in the center of Paris. An incredible experience highly recommended by INSIDR for travellers and locals!
Moulin de la Tuilerie - VINGT Paris
Once home to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Le Moulin de la Tuilerie is a spectacular royal estate dating back several hundred years and situated in a picturesque valley just to the south-west of Paris.
Boasting a fascinating history, it was notably the weekend retreat of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor (one-time Prince of Wales, Edward, and his wife Wallis Simpson) for some 20 years.
During this time, they entertained the international glitterati of the 1950's and 60's, including Maria Callas, Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Cecil Beaton.
Unique to the market, this breathtakingly beautiful residence sits in rolling countryside, on the edge of the Chevreuse Forest, next to the village of Gif-sur-Yvette.
Formerly an 18th-century mill, the 26-acre estate occupies the rare position of being at once rural and at the same time only 30 minutes from the centre of Paris.
This makes it the ideal location to take advantage of all that is offered by the capital, from the galleries and museums to the restaurants and bars, as well as this quiet and unspoilt part of France.
Built from the local honey-coloured limestone, this enchanting country retreat comprises six separate properties, a large events space, stunning landscaped grounds and a polo pitch.
In total, the estate can sleep 36 guests, making it the perfect place for entertaining large numbers of friends and family, with plenty of room for on-site staff as well.
With no expense spared, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor also embarked on a prestigious renovation, headed up by the famous interior designer Stéphane Boudin, who went on to do the White House for the Kennedys in Washington D.C, while the grounds were designed by the great English garden designer Russel Page.
Prior to the royal tenure, the property was owned by the renowned artist and fashion illustrator, Adrien Étienne (who became known as Drian) and he himself hosted many famous artists here - including Picasso.
Today, Le Moulin de la Tuilerie would make a truly magical home for anyone wanting the peace and quiet of this idyllic corner of the countryside and the proximity of Paris.
Situated just 10 minutes from the station at Gif-Sur-Yvette, which is on the RER network and links directly to Paris with trains every 15 minutes, central Paris is 30 minutes away, Gare du Nord is one hour, Orly Airport is 30 minutes and Charles de Gaulle is an hour and 15 minutes.
#VingtLoves: It's not every day that the opportunity comes along to live like a Duke and Duchess, especially so close to Paris, and we are expecting interest in this unique country home from around the world.

What to experience:
It’s back to school (or work) for 2017, and Paris is jam packed with all sorts of activities that will suit Parisians and visitors alike! Now is the time to take full advantage of the last few sunny days of summer in the Bois de Boulogne, with the Fête à Neuneu. From the 1st of September to the 8th of October, the park will be full of rides, shows, concerts and fireworks. Don’t forget, the Fête à Neuneu will also be host to the next-generation MoonRaker ride, voted the most beautiful carousel in Europe, that’s used to train astronauts. And for the little ones, there will be mini-rollercoasters, flying chairs, a big wheel and all the candyfloss they want…
For more information, check out the event’s Facebook page.
Looking for something a little more exotic? From the 5th to the 10th of September, the 16th edition of the Lavage de la Madeleine festival will bring the heat of Brazilian culture to the streets of Paris. With music, dance and local traditions on show, several thousand visitors are expected to join the Brazilian celebrities this September. Entai vai là!

What to see:
If you’re looking for an exhibition, head to the Jewish art and history museum. They are organising the first ever retrospective dedicated to the scriptwriter and author René Goscinny, the co-creator of Asterix, Petit Nicolas and Lucky Luke, 40 years after his death. From the 27th of September onwards, you can come and see 220 works including many original drawing boards, paintings and exceptional documents from the Goscinny family archives.

For something a little further off the beaten track, the “Sempre libera. Maria Callas in La Scala” exhibition will win over both long-time fans of the famous singers and complete neophytes! From the 14th of September to the 4th of October, marking 40 years since she passed away, the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris is offering visitors a dive into the world of “La Callas”, in particular the work she did with La Scala in Milan. The exhibition will bring together private archives, stage costumes and photographs of the artist with the golden voice.
Don’t forget: a concert in homage of the legendary diva will be held at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysée on the 12th of September. The singer Jessica Pratt will be singing “Lucia di Lammermoor” by Gaetano Donizetti, Maria Callas’ favourite work.

Another diva will be on centre stage at the Olympia: “Piaf! Le spectacle” will immerse you in La Vie en Rose on the 19th of September 2017 at 8:30pm. Anne Carrère will take to the stage to interpret the legendary singer who left us more than fifty years ago.

Opera-lovers will have their moment too! As part of the open-air opera festival, the Marriage of Figaro will be played in the Cour d’Honneur of the Invalides from the 7th to the 9th of September 2017. The actor and producer Julie Gayet, accompanied by Kên Higelin, will be staging Mozart’s opéra bouffe inspired by Beaumarchais’ comedy of the same name. This is going to be a hell of a show, so we recommend you get there early!

If you’re more into literature than song, you should know that you’ll be able to hear readings from the Nobel Prize for literature at the Théâtre de l’Oeuvre this month. On Sunday the 24th of September, the actor Xavier Gallais will be reading excerpts from the works of Gao XINGJIAN, the Nobel laureate in 2000. Don’t miss out!
What to do:
The European Heritage Days are back on the 16th and 17th of September 2017, and this year the Collège des Bernardins will be hosting a giant PLAYMOBIL® exhibition from the Manufacture Fantastique, with the theme of historical monuments and French cultural heritage. An enormous installation will reproduce the Latin Quarter as it was in the 13th century, complete with the long-destroyed Bernardins church. This promises to be an astonishing, full-perspective 3D reconstitution of the local landmark!
Free entry
The Galeries Lafayette will be opening their doors this weekend, too. They’re offering a visit that blends history, architecture and anecdotes from the creation of the store in 1894 to the present day. So what’s the theme this year? “Youth and Heritage”! This fun, interactive visit will give you the chance to step into the world of the great Parisian department stores, revealing secrets from the ground floor right up to the rooftop panorama. Visits are available in French and in English, and will last 45 minutes.

WALKING TOUR OF A SECRET, HIDDEN PARIS COURTYARD GEM - PLS SUBSCRIBE!
WHAT IS TRUE...'REAL' PARIS LIKE ...? WELL, its not where to scarf down a baguette or pizza (far too many new & hidden places to ever make a list, which would be useless before being proof-read...pleeeeze)!!... and it's not where to buy that new bag, etc.
REAL PARIS --aside from the simply stunning, extraordinary museums, galleries, landmarks and parks, IS ABOUT THE PLACES REAL PEOPLE LIVE, HANG OUT THE REAL STREETS AND HIDEAWAYS THAT CONSTITUTE MOST PEOPLES LIVES. This little sealed off lane-way, in the 14th, is a classic example. Not the abode of the wealthy or the famous, just folks who managed to find a cool, urban oasis, quiet and withdrawn, despite being in noisy area. There is no name for this lane...it just is...and like much of the magical pageantry of Paris, it is hidden right in front of you! PLEASE SUBSCRIBE....
