Fayence is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. Fayence is one of a series of perched villages overlooking the plain between the southern Alps and the Esterel massif, which borders the sea between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël. The village is located on the road to Mons, which later on joins the Route Napoléon . Some high-standing resorts have settled nearby the village in the recent years: the Domaine de Terre Blanche at Tourrettes, Var and Domaine de Fayence attracting a foreign clientele.     The Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort is located at Tourrettes, Var, just southeast of Fayence in the Provence region of France. Sean Connery owned the property for 20 years before he sold the château and its surrounding 266 hectares to Dietmar Hopp in 1999. Hopp transformed the property into an exclusive golf resort with luxury properties, two championship golf courses, the Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort and a world class spa. It was ranked as 5th in the CNN Money dream vacation home guide. The domaine is 30–45 minutes by car from Cannes, Nice and St Tropez, and one hour from Monaco.

    The Lake of Sainte-Croix is a man-made lake that was formed by the construction, between 1971 and 1974 of a reinforced-concrete arch dam by the name of Dam of Sainte-Croix. The reservoir holds a maximum of 761 million cubic metres of water. The dam, which generates 142 million kWh of electricity per year, is 94 metres high, 7.5 metres thick at its base and 3 metres thick at its crest. The village that can be seen adjacent to the lake, however, is not the eponymous village of Sainte-Croix-de-Verdon but Les Salles-sur-Verdon. The original village is now completely underwater.     Port Grimaud is a seaside town that forms part of the commune of Grimaud. It is located seven km west of Saint-Tropez and seven km south-west of Sainte-Maxime. This seaside town was created by architect François Spoerry in the 1960s by modifying the marshes of the river Giscle on the bay of Saint-Tropez. Built with channels in a Venetian manner, but with French Fishermans style houses resembling those in Saint-Tropez. The mainly traffic free town is popular with boat owners as most properties come with their own berth. The success of the first phase of the development meant that Port Grimaud 2 was completed in the 1970s and then again, Port Grimaud 3 was in the 90s.
