Blenheim & Woodstock was a railway station constructed in the neoclassical style which served the town of Woodstock and Blenheim Palace in the English county of Oxfordshire. The station, as well as the line, was constructed by the Duke of Marlborough and was privately run until 1897 when it became part of the Great Western Railway. Thorpe Park is a theme park located between the towns of Chertsey and Staines-upon-Thames in Surrey. It is operated and owned by Merlin Entertainments. After demolition of the Thorpe Park Estate in the 1930s, the site became a gravel pit. Thorpe Park Resort was built in the 1970s on the gravel pit which was partially flooded, creating a water-based theme for the park. ENGLAND`S OLDEST HAUNTED CHURCH

Here Haunted Earth visit the oldest church in England of St Peter Ad Murum at Bradwell Juxta Mare, (Bradwell on Sea), Essex.
Reputedly 1,350 years old, the church was built from the ruins of the abandoned Roman Shore Fort of Othona by St Cedd when he converted the East Saxon tribes of Essex to Christianity.
The church is modelled on an early Coptic Christian design that originated in the former Christian countries of Syria and Egypt.
For many years the church was used as a cow barn until 1920 when it was re-consecrated and opened to the public.

FOOTNOTE:
Today the area is threatened by the presence of 10 off-shore wind turbines, and the re-opening and expansion of nearby Bradwell Nuclear (Magnox) Power Station which although closed by the government in 2002 they now want to re-open and increase it`s operation in the near future.
The future of this area of outstanding natural beauty looks very bleak.

Blenheim Palace Gardens

Blenheim has been a World Heritage Site since 1987 and a member of the Treasure Houses of Britain. The care and restoration relies on external funding to help keep this beautiful place for future generations to visit. As most of you may know, Sir Winston Churchill was born at the Palace in1874. It is still owned by the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough. It is open every day from mid February to early November and then Wednesdays and Sundays over Winter.

Museum Gardens York

Family who now live near Reading stopped off in York City for two nights on their way for a short break in Scarborough so we joined them in York for the day. We all enjoyed a couple of hours in the Museum Gardens. I haven’t been to York for a long time... Shame on me as it is the wonderful city where I was born.
Music: “Midnight Cowboy” by John Barry played by The Mantovani Orchestra from the CD “Tenderly” ... Composer John Barry was born in York and in 2002 he was named an Honorary Freeman of the City of York . He is also Honoured with a Plaque in the City of York.

Roundhay Park

It was our first visit to this park on the last day in October. It was very busy as it was the last day of the autumn school holiday. A lovely place for young and old with a children’s play area and a skateboard park. We stuck to the walk in the park and visited the Speciality Gardens close by.

Exbury Gardens June 2012

On our visit to Exbury Gardens the herbaceous garden had many sculptures on display from Zimbabwe. Some very nice but expensive if you wished to purchase one. As it was the middle of June most of the Azaleas and Rhododendrons had finished flowering but there was still plenty of colour from the Japanese Maples around the ponds. A very nice place to visit again.

Threave Gardens, Scotland

Threave Gardens, a property of the National Trust of Scotland. It is very close to Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway. This beautiful garden is a must for all garden lovers.

The Biblican Peace Garden near Elgin Cathedral

The Biblical Garden is situated at the back of the grounds of the Elgin Cathedral so after visiting the Cathedral there was time to walk around. It is very peaceful place and entry is free other than a small donation.

The Castle of Mey. Scotland

It was a nice drive to The Castle of Mey while staying at Inverness. The castle guide gave us a very informative tour and we can see why the Queen Mother loved staying at the Castle.
