Chennai district, formerly known as Madras district or Madarasapattinam, is a district in the state of Tamil Nadu, in India. It is the smallest of all the districts in the state, but has the highest human density. The district is a city district which means that it does not have a district headquarters. Most of the Greater Chennai City comes under this district, erstwhile under Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts .     Pulicat or Pazhaverkadu is a historic seashore town in North of Chennai in Thiruvallur District, of Tamil Nadu state, South India. It is about 60 kilometres north of Chennai and 3 kilometres from Elavur, on the southern periphery of the Pulicat Lake. Pulicat lake is a shallow salt water lagoon which stretches about 60 kilometres along the coast. With lakeside and seashore development as well as several Special Economic Zones including a US $1 billion Medical SEZ, coming up in nearby Elavur, land prices in the area are rising.
