Top 5 Skiing Locations in Italy
With winter just around the corner, people are already breaking out their skiing gear and taking a look at some of their favorite places to hit the slopes. Italy is blessed with an impressive ski range, with the central core of the Dolomites taking the spotlight. In addition, the in-resort costs here are much more affordable compared to other resorts around Europe. And while Italy has many rival skiing destinations, it has a much more laid back atmosphere that many skiers – both casual and advanced – certainly appreciate.

Mid-September, no tourists only a lot of sun, empty beaches, clear water, amazing food , the scent of soil, olive trees and hot weather.
Salento is a very nice place to visit in the south of Italy, wherever you look there are just beautiful things to see or to eat, if you ever get to visit this place, the experience will make your belly gain a lot, but so will your heart, guaranteed! :)

Your Tour: Alps Deluxe & French Riviera - June - July 2018
This is a tour for those particularly adventurous and proficient riders. We leave Milan to cruise the crest of the Alps through Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and France, searching out the many lofty passes that twist over the alpine heights. From the shadow of Mont Blanc, we descend through Provencal villages to the gold coast of southern France before again racing from the sea for the high mountain aeries.
The ride is much more than leaning into tight curves or sweeping through glacial valleys. Each evening provides a unique and culturally varied off-motorcycle experience, whether enjoying the rustic ambience of an alpine village or embracing the high living on the French Riviera. From country to country or mountains to coast, the cultural differences are as stunning as the ever-changing landscape. This is the tour that merges rugged alpine riding and the finest of European relaxation.
The Unique and Charming Trulli e Puglia Hotel in Alberobello, Italy
Trulli e Puglia offers unique accommodations in traditional stone buildings. Our Trullo had two bedrooms, dining room, kitchenette, bathroom (of course), living room and even a patio! What a unique stay in a UNESCO World Heritage town.
Ski with me - in Abetone, Italy
Come ski with me and Celine! Abetone is a small ski resort less that 2 hours drive from Florence.
We decided to go all out and book the best hotel in town, Val di Luce Spa Resort, so that we could use the fabulous spa in the evenings.

After a week on the Southern Coast of Italy in Positano, Capri, and Amalfi, we headed inland to Tuscany and Lake Garda, finally ending up in the Italian Alps in Northern Italy. Despite the fact that it was mid-September, there was a light dusting of snow in the mountains the day before we arrived, followed by lots of lightning and rain. This resulted in dramatic clouds that greatly enhanced our landscape photography.
We greatly enjoyed the Dolomites and highly recommend a visit here if you love mountains and outdoor activities. Renting a car is a must in order to maximize your experience!
Places we visited in the Italian Alps (South Tyrol):
- Corvara
- Piz la Villa
- Alta Badia
- Cortina d'Ampezzo
Must-do activities:
- Ride the ski lifts and gondolas (open summer + winter)
- Hike and bike through the mountains
- Stop and admire the views
- Eat German food (this is the German-speaking part of Italy!)

What you will see in this video:
- the famous Sellaronda, which is circular ski route around the Sella massif. You will pass the four Ladin valleys: Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba. The tour can be done in both directions, clockwise or anticlockwise.
- the mountain Lagazuoi and Cinque Torri, along the Grande Guerra. The Grande Guerra ski tour is the First World War ski tour, and one of the most spectacular ski tours in the Dolomites. The track goes along the mountain Mount Col di Lana, which is the centre point of the First World War tour. Along the route you will find yourself between the nature and history of the Dolomites. The track is in total 80 km (49 mi) long and you will drive the longest ski slope in the Dolomites, from the top of Lagazuoi ( descends towards Armentarola in Alta Badia.
- the Queen of the Dolomites, the mountain Marmolada, which is the highest peak of the Dolomites UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site with its 3342 meters of altitude. From the top of the Marmolada you can enjoy one of the longest slopes of Dolomiti Superski, the 12 km long La Bellunese (which is also connected to the Sellaronda ski tour). There is even a small museum on the top of the Mount Marmolada, called “Marmolada Great War Museum” which is about the battlefield during WW1 in the Dolomites.
- Santa Croce, which is a pilgrimage destination situated at 2,045 meters of altitude right in the middle of the Fanes. The small restaurant next to the church serves the best food ever!!!
- Seceda-Col Raiser-Rasciesa skiing consortium, with the beautiful view of the Langkofel Group and the Dolomites, as well all the mountains from Ortles to Großglockner (in Austria).
- and much much more :)

Corvara, Italy ... near the Austrian border
Now this is a little town high in the Italian alps that is not easily accessible in the wintertime ... I tried it and failed. But in the spring and summer it is really beautiful. I suspect it's beautiful in the winter, too.
