New Zealand's best-kept secret - Karamea
Karamea is a small town 99km north of Westport, on the South Island of New Zealand. It's basically a no exit road, so a lot of people don't bother coming. The area has been described as New Zealand's best-kept secret.
It feels untouched and has a lot more wildlife than other parts of New Zealand. There's a wild beach, red rivers, mossy forest and caves - plenty of natural beauty.

Great Campground & Free Activities in Rotorua
Rotorua (New Zealand) has been a real surprise. Growing up in New Zealand, I always thought of it as a place to avoid. Too touristy and smelly from all the thermal activity in the area. But I decided to have a proper explore this time and have been impressed.
What impressed me?
- I stayed at a fantastic affordable lakeside campground just outside of Rotorua with some great sunsets.
- I found it extremely easy to go hiking in some nearby forests.
- The town is large enough to have a couple of good sided -
supermarkets and they are even building a Kmart.
- There is no painful Auckland traffic!
- Looking at the map, it's in a great location for freelancing with Tauranga, Taupo, Cambridge and Hamilton surrounding it.
I know I will be visiting again soon and see if it would be a good base.

New Zealand’s top food and wine destination Wairarapa is home to stunning forest environments and spectacular coastal and mountain scenery. The townships of Greytown and Masterton were the first inland towns in the country, making this journey to the Wairarapa region a very important part of your visit to Wellington.
New Zealand Roadtrip!
Dedicated to my Friends and Family -
On the 22nd of February, after two months of Backpacking in Australia, a friend and myself decided to pack our stuff together and take a 4h flight to Auckland, New Zealand for a little road trip.
As soon as we arrived we bought a Car and started.
This six week road trip through a country full of breathtaking landscapes, Maori culture, incredible views and thousands and thousands of sheep was so far one of my favorites. In this six minute film you will see the highlights of 65 GB Footage. The rest of it will definitely stick in my head for the rest of my life!
This was just the second country I visited in my Gap Year Travels.
I will continue traveling and go to some of the most breathtaking destinations of the world, including Hawaii, Australia and the Philippines.
So stay tuned for some awesome videos!!

New Zealand Campervan Holiday 2008: Dannevirke to Napier
Enjoy, comment, subscribe!
My Blogs:
and
Sue and I spent 10 weeks traveling around New Zealand in a campervan in 2008.
This is the last video in the series which has content overlapping with earlier ones (resulting from a computer problem some months ago).
We passed through extensive pastoral country to the Hawke's Bay coast and spent some time at Napier's Marineland, which we believe has since closed.
Metal detecting finds are shown at the end of the video.
A glimpse of New Zealand in 3 minutes
I spent six days in New Zealand's north and south islands. Here it is, condensed into less than 3 minutes.

Coromandel, New Zealand | New Chums Beach | Port Jackson | Stony Bay
In this video, I share 3 adventures from my travels around the Coromandel in New Zealand.
New Chums Beach is a popular spot. The walk starts at Whangapoua Beach and crosses a tidal river. Tip: Go at low tide. The path is along the rocky beach and over the hill. It can get muddy in winter!
From Colville to Port Jackson is a scenic drive on gravel road and you'll want to stop multiple times for photos. This is the left branch at the very top of the Coromandel. Port Jackson has a campsite that's empty in winter but I've heard is packed in summer. Beyond Port Jackson, you ford a river and eventually reach a carpark at another beach with a walk that connects to Stony Bay.
Stony Bay is at the end of the right branch at the very top of the Coromandel. Again, it's gravel roads but with a few more houses. Stony Bay has a DoC campground and is the other end of the walk from Port Jackson.

Beyond Glenorchy, beyond Paradise
Glenorchy is a small town surrounded by stunning scenery, which is an hour from Queenstown, New Zealand. Did you know there is a part called Paradise? And plenty of Lord of the Rings scenes were filmed in the area? And there's a beautiful walk straight from town?
This video gives you a taste for the scenery and tracks in the area, like Lake Sylvan and Mount Aspiring National Park, plus commentary of my experience...
