Welcome to the Yukon!
Known for its dramatic landscapes, vast wilderness, and the famous Klondike Gold Rush, the Yukon has been capturing people's imaginations for years. With four-legged creatures far outnumbering humans, Canada's tallest mountain peaks, and the world's largest non-polar glacier, the Yukon is a true paradise for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts.
We started our journey in Whitehorse, the Yukon's capital city. From here, we toured the SS Klondike, ate some delicious food in Whitehorse's oldest buildings, saw heaps of wildlife, and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We then went to Dawson, the worlds most famous gold rush town. While walking around the old boardwalk streets was incredible enough, we also went gold panning, toured the massive dredge #4, watched a Cancan show at the oldest casino in the country, and took a river cruise on a paddle-wheeler. We then drove up the infamous Dempster Highway all the way to Eagle Plains, past the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories. After coming back and spending another night in Dawson, we drove to Kluane National Park for one of the most epic flightseeing tours we've ever experienced.
We explored the Yukon from August 16 - September 6th, 2017!
Canada's Road to 150 is a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
We will drive to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

The Dempster Highway is easily one of the most epic road trips in Canada, if not the entire world. Starting in Dawson, Yukon, the 700-km dirt road takes you all the way up to Tombstone Territorial Park, past the Arctic Circle, and into the Northern community of Inuvik.
During our 150-day road trip across Canada, this was one of our highlights. Driving in the fall, we loved the fall colours, and the incredible mountain scenery, as well as the tundra!
However, driving the Dempster Highway requires some planning, which is why we've created this video with some tips for driving the Dempster Highway!

The town of Inuvik is the last main city in the Northwest territory with supplies before hitting the Arctic Ocean. A famous landmark is the igloo church and you can visit the town office for a souvenir pin and your your Certificate of Passage - North of 60°
When you go north of the Arctic Circle, you begin to experience polar nights and polar days. It’s winter, so we experiencing a polar night or 24 hours of darkness.
We’re on an all-weather road that was built in 2017 . Before then the only way to Tuk was by boat or plane. Which made it even more challenging and expensive for Tuk locals to get food and supplies.
Arctic Highway to Tuktoyaktuk: With a population of about 900 people, mostly Inuit people, Tuk is a small town. Connected by ice roads once a year, Tuk’s lifeline to the mainland is thin, forcing a majority of its population to live off of hunting, fishing and food insecurity. Even some of the clothing locals wear are made from fur and skins from animals they’ve hunted.
We head out to Tuk’s Community Food Bank, run by sister Fay Trombley. The community food bank is there to help those who are locals who are struggling in this economy to feed their family.

Mazda Arctic Road Trip | Trailer | Drive to Arctic Ocean, Tuktoyaktuk Canada
They say that life Is like a highway. Although a path may be paved but it’s impossible to know what lies ahead or where you might change course in adversity or great awakening. Where you might meet people, places and infinite possibilities. Mazda invited me to participate in a once in a lifetime road trip to the Arctic Ocean. Because on an open highway, the adventure of life is about embracing the unknown. And that’s just what I did.
I took a Mazda Arctic Road Trip in winter. It was a once-in-a-lifetime epic drive to the Arctic Ocean (BC Canada) with creators, arctic drivers and auto journalists. Watch the FULL ARCTIC EXPEDITION 3-part series ‘ROAD TO THE ARCTIC OCEAN’
