German manufacturing giant Würth runs a success club for top sales performers across all divisions of its business. This features an annual five-day incentive trip in Europe, organised by Würth's in-house events agency Marbet.
The Würth Group (Würth-Gruppe in German) is a worldwide wholesaler of fasteners, screws and screw accessories, dowels, chemicals, electronic and electromechanical components, furniture and construction fittings, tools, machines, installation material, automotive hardware, inventory management, storage and retrieval systems. Würth was founded in 1945.
Marbet often chooses Malta as a destination for its warmth and sunny weather, and also since Malta is somewhere where many people hadn't been before, besides offering good value for money.
When Marbet organises such a trip, its involves two key challenges - getting the group to Malta, as flight access is limited and delegates were coming from all over the Würth France's group territory, and finding activities and restaurants on the island that could cater for a large group of delegates. With the Maltese weather in Malta being usually fine and sunny in May, the large part of the delegates itinerary was based around al fresco dining and activities.
Marbet hired the MPE destinations management company to put together a programme of activities and find dinner venues with capacity for the group. Contingency plans for dinners to be moved inside in case of inclement weather saw a flexibility built into the delegates programme.
Al fresco dinning was the norm in the programme for the next few days, which included a mix of relaxation and group activities including sports, a guided country walk, a sightseeing tour of Malta, a 4x4 vehicle tour with photo treasure hunt and an excursion to a vineyard combined with a sightseeing tour of Malta's old medieval capital, Mdina. During the evenings, there were several meals hosted at the hotel, a dine-around at several restaurants in St Julian's and a gala dinner at a small castle on the final night.
