Travel France - Visit Pont du Gard, South of France
Take a tour of Pont du Gard in France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
When the citizens of ancient Rome needed bath and fountain water, the Pont du Gard was built to deliver it to their doors.
This simple, yet impressive aqueduct bridge crosses over the Gard River in southern France.
Rows of arches carried millions of gallons of water per day to many private homes in France.
Arch technology was revolutionary at the time of construction, and the bridge remains a structural marvel.
The aqueduct was kept in use as a toll-bridge well after the fall of Rome.
It has been one of France's most famous and visited tourist destinations for centuries.
Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a monument to a civilization long gone.

France Travel Guide - French Village of La Couvertoirade
Take a tour of French Village of La Couvertoirade in La Couvertoirade, France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
For an exemplar Medieval French village, turn to a commune in southern France.
La Couvertoirade is a small but well maintained town with approximately 200 hundred inhabitants, most of whom are members of craft trades.
The town is most famous for the presence of the Knights Templar here. It was the Templars who built the fortress of the town in the 12th and 13th centuries. They were later replaced by the Knights of Saint John, who built the wall in the 15th century.
The ancient stone and tile structures coupled with pristine landscapes and angelic sky help to create the wholly ethereal atmosphere of this archetypal town.

France Travel Guide - French Village of Barfleur
Take a tour of French Village of Barfleur in Barfleur, France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
One of the most historically significant towns in Normandy is the seaside town of Barfleur.
For many years, this was one of the most prominent port towns in northern France.
Today, Barfleur is primarily a fishing town, but is also a beautiful place to visit. It has rocky shores, sandy beaches, and excellent views of the Atlantic, especially at sunset.
The slightly austere yet peaceful structures of this town mostly date from the town's
most prominent era, the 17th and 18th centuries.
In addition to its stunning surroundings, Barfleur itself is a charming place with a great sense of history.

Places to see in ( Paris - France ) La Cite des Sciences et de L'lndustrie
The Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie is the biggest science museum in Europe. Located in Parc de la Villette in Paris, France, it is one of the three dozen French Cultural Centers of Science, Technology and Industry (CCSTI), promoting science and science culture. About five million people visit the Cité each year. Attractions include a planetarium, a submarine (the Argonaute), an IMAX theatre (La Géode) and special areas for children and teenagers.
The Cité is classified as a public establishment of an industrial and commercial character, an establishment specialising in the fostering of scientific and technical culture. Created on the initiative of President Giscard d'Estaing, the goal of the Cité is to spread scientific and technical knowledge among the public, particularly for youth, and to promote public interest in science, research and industry.
The most notable features of the bioclimatic facade facing the park are Les Serres – three greenhouse spaces each 32 metres high, 32 metres wide and 8 metres deep. The facades of Les Serres were the first structural glass walls to be constructed without framing or supporting fins. Between 30 May and 1 June 2008, the museum hosted the 3rd International Salon for Peace Initiatives.
The building is constructed around the vast steel trusses of an abattoir sales hall on which construction had halted in 1973. The transformation, commissioned on 15 September 1980, was designed by the architect Adrien Fainsilber and engineer Peter Rice. It was opened on 13 March 1986, inaugurated by François Mitterrand upon the occasion of the encounter of the Giotto space probe with Halley's Comet.

French Village of Pujols - France Travel Guide

Pujols, France is a small, beautiful village that belies its long and somewhat strange history.
Pujols was at one point a stronghold for heretics before they were executed.
Once a strongly fortified medieval town, much of it dates back to the thirteenth century.
Today, this small village on the slope of a hill is an open and inviting place for all visitors.
There are still some parts of town where the ruins of the past can be found.
Besides the ancient churches, there are the remains of a castle and ruins of the previous fortified wall.
Travel France - Exploring the Village of Carennac
Take a tour of French Village of Carennac in Carennac, France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Bordering the Dordogne River in France, the stunning town of Carennac is a gorgeous destination for visitors.
Traces of the town's ancient history date all the way back to the New Stone Age, while architectural elements remain from the Middle Ages.
The town is fertile with lush gardens and greenery which are visible throughout the town's parks, groves, and draped over window sills.
Carennac contains houses of cream-colored stone, some of which have been restored with balconies made of wood.
Visitors can also find boarding in some of Carennac's delightful cottage getaways.
Activities around the city include scenic walks, bike riding, and exploring the nearby caverns.
What an unexpected gem, we knew the Pyrenees would be great but Cauterets far exceeded our expectations. This is definitely one of those places to put on the todo list.
We stayed at Camping Cabaliros which is about 15 mins walk into Cauterets. A good site but on a slope so some pitches are difficult to get level
