Head to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for a look at some of the free current exhibitions. We're here at Park Mount Royal to walk around and head to the lookout point for amazing city views. We chose to stay in the neighborhood of Le Plateau-Mont Royal. On Sunday afternoons you'll find a huge drumming circle on the east end of Mount Royal called Tam Tams. McGill University is one of the most prestigious universities in all of Canada. Poutine, a French Canadian dish, it is basically french fries with gravy and cheese curds on top. For a taste of French charm, wander down the cobbled streets of Old Montreal. Tonight we're at the Cirque du Soleil for a circus performance. The biodome is a popular attraction for families with children. Olympic Stadium is the former home of the Montreal Expos. The botanical gardens are home to beautiful gardens. Bell Center is home to the Montreal Canadiens, one of the most celebrated NHL franchises. There is no better place ot eat smoked meat in Montreal than Schwartz. The Notre Dame Basilica is located in the historic district of Old Montreal. If you enjoy checking out graffiti around Saint Catherine street which is also a shopping district. Eat St. Viateur bagels, which are really famous here in Montreal. A great way to get around the city is by Bixi bike. Montreal's Old Port is worth a wander. Paris, France - Visite Guidée du Quartier Latin (Partie 1)
Bonjour et bienvenue pour cette nouvelle visite guidée par New York Habitat ( ). Aujourd'hui, nous allons explorer l'un des quartiers les plus animés et populaires de Paris, le Quartier Latin.

Il y a tellement de choses à voir dans ce quartier que cet épisode sera le 1er d'une trilogie consacrée au Quartier Latin. Ne manquez pas les parties 2 ( et 3 ( de notre trilogie consacrée au Quartier Latin.
Situé sur la rive gauche de la Seine, emplacement historique de la citée romaine de Lutèce, le Quartier Latin s'étend de la Seine jusqu'au sommet du Mont St. Geneviève, colline qui doit son nom au saint patron de la ville.
Le nom de Quartier Latin remonte au Moyen-âge, lorsqu'il s'agissait du repère des étudiants et de leurs professeurs. L'université a été créée en tant qu'école rattachée à la Cathédrale. Les cours avaient lieu à l'extérieur, sous les arcades du cloître de la Cathédrale. Au XIIème siècle, beaucoup de personnes ont émigré vers la rive gauche et, peu après, des facultés comme celle de La Sorbonne (fondée en 1257).
Alors, pourquoi l'appelle-t-on le Quartier Latin ? Et bien, cela vient du fait qu'on y parlait le latin, pas seulement au sein des universités et facultés dont les cours étaient dispensés en latin jusqu'au XVII siècle, mais également dans la rue. A l'époque, les étudiants affluaient du monde entier et communiquaient en Latin dans le quartier où ils vivaient et étudiaient.
Aujourd'hui, il y a toujours beaucoup d'étudiant mais aussi des touristes du monde entier qui viennent dans le Quartier Latin pour se balader dans les petites rues, s'installer dans les cafés ou encore aller dans les clubs de jazz.
Saint-Michel
La Fontaine Saint-Michel est un lieu de rendez-vous très apprécié des parisiens. Le boulevard qui la longe est l'un de ceux construits par Haussmann dans les années 1860 et qui faisait partie intégrante du projet de transformation de Paris voulu par Napoléon III. C'est le Boulevard Saint Michel. La fontaine où Saint Michel terrasse un dragon a été dessinée pour finir le boulevard sur une note majestueuse.
Nous voici en route pour goûter au vieux quartier Latin. Ce quartier a conservé ses étroites ruelles médiévales, identifiables grâce au caniveau qui se trouve au centre de celles-ci. Ces rues sont toujours autant animées qu'à l'époque où les étudiants, professeurs médiévaux, artisans, marchands et chevaliers de la garde royale les peuplaient. On y trouve aujourd'hui de nombreux restaurants ethniques pittoresques.

Places to see in ( Paris - France ) Palais de Chaillot
The Palais de Chaillot is a building in the Trocadéro area in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, France. For the Exposition Internationale of 1937, the old Palais du Trocadéro was demolished and replaced by the Palais de Chaillot which now tops the hill. It was designed in classicizing moderne style by architects Louis-Hippolyte Boileau, Jacques Carlu and Léon Azéma. Like the old palais, the palais de Chaillot features two wings shaped to form a wide arc: indeed, these wings were built on the foundations of those of the former building. However, unlike the old palais, the wings are independent buildings and there is no central element to connect them: instead, a wide esplanade leaves an open view from the place du Trocadéro to the Eiffel Tower and beyond.
The buildings are decorated with quotations by Paul Valéry, and sculptural groups at the attic level by Raymond Delamarre, Carlo Sarrabezolles and Alfred Bottiau. The eight gilded figures on the terrace of the Rights of Man are attributed to the sculptors Alexandre Descatoire, Marcel Gimond, Jean Paris dit Pryas, Paul Cornet, Lucien Brasseur, Robert Couturier, Paul Niclausse, and Félix-Alexandre Desruelles.
The buildings now house a number of museums:
the Musée national de la Marine (naval museum) and the Musée de l'Homme (ethnology) in the southern (Passy) wing,
the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, including the Musée national des Monuments Français, in the eastern (Paris) wing, from which one also enters the Théâtre national de Chaillot, a theater below the esplanade.
It was on the front terrace of the palace that Adolf Hitler was pictured during his short tour of the city in 1940, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. This became an iconic image of the Second World War. It is in the Palais de Chaillot that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. This event is now commemorated by a stone, and the esplanade is known as the esplanade des droits de l'homme (esplanade of human rights). The Palais de Chaillot was also the initial headquarters of NATO, while the Palais de l'OTAN (now Université Paris Dauphine) was being built.
