Walking in HYDE PARK - Beautiful Park in SYDNEY City Centre, AUSTRALIA
Walking in Hyde Park. Beautiful Park in Sydney City Centre, Australia.
Hyde Park is a heritage-listed 16.2-hectare (40-acre) urban park located in the central business district of Sydney, in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia, Hyde Park is the oldest public parkland in Australia. Hyde Park is on the eastern fringe of the Sydney city centre and is approximately rectangular in shape, being squared at the southern end and rounded at the northern end. It is bordered on the west by Elizabeth Street, on the east by College Street, on the north by St. James Road and Prince Albert Road and on the south by Liverpool Street.
Hyde Park is broadly rectangular with a rounded northern end. It is bisected east-west by Park Street and ringed by other major city streets (Liverpool and College Streets, Prince Albert Road, St.James' Road, Elizabeth Street) and stands in strong contrast to the closely built-up and intense environment of the city beside it. A climax at each end of the park is provided by the two major monuments of the Archibald Fountain at the northern and most populous end and by the solid bulk of the Anzac Memorial at the southern end. These two monuments are of essential importance to the park's design and character.
The centrepiece of Hyde Park is the Archibald Fountain. The fountain was designed by François-Léon Sicard and bequeathed by J. F. Archibald in 1932 in honour of Australia's contribution to World War I in France.
At the park's southern end is the ANZAC War Memorial behind the Pool of Reflection and the entrances to the Museum railway station. A monument consisting of a 105-millimetre (4.1 in) gun from the German light cruiser SMS Emden stands at Whitlam Square, at the south-eastern, Oxford Street entry of the park. It was built as a memorial to the Australian Imperial Force of World War I. Fund raising for a memorial began on 25 April 1916, the first anniversary of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) landing at Anzac Cove for the Battle of Gallipoli. It was opened on 24 November 1934 by His Royal Highness Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester.
Close to the ANZAC Memorial in the southern end of the park is Yininmadyemi - Thou didst let fall, a public artwork that acknowledges the service of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women in the Australian Defence Force. The artwork by Indigenous Australian artist Tony Albert was unveiled on 31 March 2015 and was commissioned by the City of Sydney as part of its Eora Journey public art initiative.
The western, or Elizabeth Street side, at the Bathurst Street entrance of the park sits beside the 22-metre (72 ft) Obelisk decorated with Egyptian features. It was erected in 1857 and unveiled by the then Mayor, George Thornton.
In the northeastern sector, of the southern half of the park, there is a monument to Captain James Cook, erected to commemorate Cook's discovery of the east coast of Australia in 1770. The sculptor was Thomas Woolner (17 December 1825 – 7 October 1892) and the statue was cast by Cox & Sons, at its Thames Ditton Foundry, Surrey, England.

Ashfield to Homebush West
Ashfield is a suburb in the Inner West[2] of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Ashfield is about 8 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district.
Ashfield's population is highly multicultural. Its urban density is relatively high for Australia, with the majority of the area's dwellings being a mixture of mainly post-war low-rise flats (apartment blocks) and Federation-era detached houses. Amongst these are a number of grand Victorian buildings that offer a hint of Ashfield's rich cultural heritage.
Homebush West is a suburb in the Inner West[2] of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Homebush West is located 16 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area's of the Municipality of Strathfield and the Cumberland Council. Homebush and Homebush Bay are separate suburbs to the east and north-east.
Homebush Bay - Sydney, Australia.
Homebush Bay is a bay on the south bank of the Parramatta River, in the inner west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The name is also used to refer to an area to the west and south of the bay itself, which was formerly an official suburb of Sydney, which has now become the suburbs of Sydney Olympic Park, Wentworth Point and part of the neighbouring suburb of Lidcombe. Homebush Bay is located 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of City of Auburn. Homebush and Homebush West are separate suburbs.
Review: Arena Apartments, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia - September 2015
Review: Arena Apartments, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia - September 2015.
I stayed in Brisbane's Arena Apartments for 8 nights in September 2015. I paid £516 (AU$1,080) for this via Booking.com. This may seem expensive, but Brisbane is an expensive city to stay in, and this apartment was of an extremely high quality. The apartments are located in the trendy West End suburb, which is great for night-life, and are a 10 minute walk from South Bank railway station.
This film features: external views of the apartments from Edmondstone Street; a detailed review of Apartment 2083; views in the corridor, including the rubbish chute, and views internally to the swimming pool; the swimming pool and sunbathing area including the outdoor communal barbecues; the gym; the underground car park; lifts / elevators; reception office; and the views from apartment 2083's balcony.
We had a one bedroom apartment, which had a kitchen / dining room, bedroom, bathroom, balcony and laundry cupboard. The apartment had the following features: telephone, air conditioning, Bosch oven, kitchen cupboards, kettle, toaster, microwave, Bosch hob and extractor fan, all of the kitchen equipment and utensils that we would need, Samsung fridge freezer, work counter, sink, drainer, Bosch dish washer, cleaning equipment, bins, sofa, chairs, bar stools, coffee table, flat screen TV, DVD player, digital TV receiver, balcony table and chairs, king sized bed, generous wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps, dining table and 4 chairs, vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board, mop and bucket, washing machine, tumble dryer, a second sink, bathroom sink (3rd sink), shower, toilet, bathroom cabinet, large draw under bathroom sink, complimentary smells and soap, and a hair dryer.
The apartment was superb and I really enjoyed my stay there. Everything about it was of a high quality, and I would certainly recommend Arena Apartments to anybody else that is visiting Brisbane.
