Sardinia: Santu Antine Nuraghe | Italia Slow Tour
The Santu Antine Nuraghe (Sardinia, province of Sassari) dates from 1250/1300 B.C. and it was built on the ruins of a pre-existing nuraghe! Rounded, made of porous basalt, we can consider it a regular fortress. Like all the nuraghe, it had a function of control of the area. You know, nuraghes were the residences of the chieftains, but above all they were fortified structures, built by those who had power in the community, the exact equivalent of a medieval castle.

Acropoli nuragica Santa Vittoria, Serri - Sardinia (Italy)
- il Pozzo Sacro, dedicato al culto delle acque, costruito con blocchi perfettamente squadrati;
la Via Sacra che collega i diversi edifici cultuali;
- il grande Recinto delle Feste- centro socio-commerciale del santuario - dove tutt'attorno si dispongono i porticati, la cucina collettiva, i nove vani destinati al mercato, le sale-capanne di rappresentanza, la capanna dei Fonditori, la Capanna dell'Ascia Bipenne;
- il Tempio Ipetrale che conserva due altari muniti al centro di scolo per il deflusso dei liquidi;
- la rotonda con sedile interno anulare, modanato, e al centro una base d'altare (il Recinto Circolare con Sedile);
- i templi in antis (le capanne del Capo e del Sacerdote);
l'ampia sala delle assemblee (laCuria) sede decisionale degli oligarchi;

The entrance with (thank you note from the video)
an enormous monolithic lintel, shows no trace of door. It is invariably narrow, mostly low profile.
Having passed it through the wall of a corridor nuraghe by a few meters, in the sides of which there are normally one or two large niches and (almost always left) to open a staircase.
This staircase, built in wall thickness, provides access to the upper parts of the tower, sometimes a second chamber in forming middle or tholos, in all cases, a summit platform.
After the access corridor, is the tholos: circling the ground about ten feet, its curved wall rises to the keystone and shows a surface more or less regular, according to the skill of its builder. In the towers, one or more niches may have been reserved at the base of this wall.
If by chance the tholos is in good condition, we find that there is only one opening: the one we just passed. The place is quite dark and you can not light a fire without smoke. It is understandable then that none of the ingenious nuragic did not consent to stay in this place: this is not a habitat ...

Barumini - Area museum Palais Zapata
In downtown Barumini you can admire Palazzo Zapata, a former home that the Marquis, in the early 600, they built on the highest point of the country.
Only recently, during the restoration of the palace, was made a discovery of great significance: the Zapata palace was built over the well preserved remains of a settlement called by the archaeologist John nuragico Lilliu (already discovered the Su Nuraxi complex) Nuraxi and because Cresia near the parish church.
Thanks to a project of architectural restoration of great visual impact and a strong suggestion (developed with great sensitivity by the architect Peter Royal) and the Palace of the marquis that the underlying nuraghe, properly brought to light, are now home to a magnificent museum complex - divided into three sections: archaeological (scientific project developed by the archaeologist Dr. Roberto Sirigu), historical (scientific project developed by Dr. Rosa M. Lai and Ms. Patricia M. Mameli the Archive Superintendence of Sardinia) and ethnographic ( scientific project developed by the architect. Liliana Fadda) - which was opened July 29, 2006
