Jinan, formerly romanized as Tsinan, is the capital of Shandong province in Eastern China. The area of present-day Jinan has played an important role in the history of the region from the earliest beginnings of civilization and has evolved into a major national administrative, economic, and transportation hub. The city has held sub-provincial administrative status since 1994. Jinan is often called the Spring City for its famous 72 artesian springs. Its population was 6.8 million at the 2010 census.

1. Baotu Spring Park Jinan
The Baotu Spring is a culturally significant artesian karst spring located in the city of Jinan, Shandong, China. It is mentioned in the Spring and Autumn Annals, one of the Five Classics of Chinese literature, and was declared the Number One Spring under the Heaven by the Qianlong Emperor in the Qing dynasty. The Baotu Spring is the most renowned among the more than 70 named artesian springs in the downtown area of the city of Jinan. The water of all these springs originates from an Ordovician karst aquifer under the city. As the terrain around Jinan slopes from the south down to the north, the recharge area for the aquifer is located in the mountainous area to the south of the city. The sites on the list are determined by the provincial government and announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China . Three different lists have been drafted in the years 1977, 1992, and 2006. The entire list contains sites that are significant with respect to history, religion, or arts and sciences. Among the sites listed are buildings, tombs, old architecture, temples, and stone inscriptions. Part of the historical and cultural sites protected by Shandong Province are also listed as Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.

Our 2nd food stop in China is Jinan (济南). Jinan is the capital of Shandong province in Eastern China, and it is often called the Spring City for its famous 72 artesian springs. Shandong cuisine (山东菜), or Lu cuisine (鲁菜), is one of the Eight Culinary Traditions of Chinese cuisine and one of the Four Great Traditions (四大菜系). The cooking methods of Lu cuisine focuses on quick frying, roasting and boiling. Jinan-style food is generally sweet, aromatic, fresh and tender.

Located in the Eastern China, Jinan, the capital of Shandong Provice, is the city where currently I live. It is called the Spring City for its famous 72 artesian springs.
The Black Tiger Spring is one of the largest and most famous springs of the city, and derives its name from the shape and color of the rock, which resembled a black tiger.
The best place to relax in the city centre is Daming Lake, one of city's main natural and cultural landmarks.
