Kaarina is a small town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Southwest Finland region and is a neighbouring town of Turku, which is the capital of Southwest Finland, therefore Kaarina is a part of the Greater Turku region. The municipality has a population of 33,335 and covers an area of 179.58 square kilometres of which 29.15 km2 is water. The population density is 221.73 inhabitants per square kilometre . The municipality is unilingually Finnish, with a Swedish minority and e.g. a Swedish comprehensive school. Bilinguality was proposed but rejected 2015. The Moomins are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish by Schildts in Finland. They are a family of white, round fairy tale characters with large snouts that make them resemble hippopotamuses. The carefree and adventurous family live in their house in Moominvalley, though in the past, their temporary residences have included a lighthouse and a theatre. They have had many adventures along with their various friends. In all, nine books were released in the series, together with five picture books and a comic strip being released between 1945 and 1993. Skärgårdens ringväg, the archipelago trail. Bicycling pieni rengastie in archipelago Finland. My route is Röölä - Hanka - Seili - Nauvo (Reso Röödilä - Själö - Nagu). Polkupyöräretkeä Turun saariston pienellä rengastiellä. Aiheina myös Hämmärönsalmen lossi sekä Ms Östern. Ms Östern kulkee kesäisin reitillä Nauvo (Nagu) - Seili (Själö) - Hanka.

To Utö Island you can get with the M/S Eivor ferry. The voyage to Utö starts at Pernäs (the ferry place between Nagu and Korpo) and it will take about 4 hrs. On your way you will pass the Fagerholm Island, - the border guard island. To Pernäs you get along the ´skärgårdsvägen´ (Archipelago road), which starts in St.Karins and continues out to Nagu, Korpo and Houtskär via Pargas.
