Kangasniemi is a municipality in the province of Eastern Finland and is part of the Southern Savonia region, Finland. The municipality has a population of 5,490 and covers an area of 1,326.75 square kilometres of which 256.86 km2 is water. The population density is 5.13 inhabitants per square kilometre . Kangasniemi is located on the Finnish national road 13, 50 km northwest of Mikkeli and 63 km southeast of Jyväskylä. Distance to the national capital, Helsinki is 250 km .     Repovesi National Park is situated in the municipalities of Kouvola and Mäntyharju, only a few hours north-east of the more populous Helsinki area of southern Finland. Formerly a site for intensive commercial forestry, the Repovesi area successfully transformed into a pristine national park. Pine and birch trees dominate the park. Repovesi abounds with wildlife including bear, deer and various birds. The River Koukunjoki flows through the park. Other streams and lakes are also situated within the parks boundaries.     Linnansaari National Park is a national park in the Southern Savonia and Northern Savonia regions of Finland. It lies in the middle of the lake Haukivesi, a part of greater Saimaa. The National Park was established to conserve the valuable natural features of the Finnish lakeland. On the main island there's an old croft. Slash-and-burn agriculture is still practised on its fields to conserve the old cultural landscape and the associated plant and animal species. A large part of the island is natural-state coniferous forest, with some herb-rich parts. The critically endangered Saimaa Ringed Seal inhabits the park.
