✈︎ TRIP REPORT ✈︎ Penerbangan Firefly Airlines // Penang to Langkawi

Dear Trip Report fans and Malaysia enthusiasts as well as aviation geeks,
I am very proud to present to you my latest Trip Report. This time I will take you on a super short 30 minute hop from the Island of Penang to the Island of Langkawi both located in Malaysia making this a domestic flight.
I think this might be the shortest flight in their network. Firefly Airlines is operating as a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines and thus they operate every single one of their flights under a MH codeshare.

FlyFirefly Sdn Bhd, operating as Firefly, is a full-service point-to-point carrier and a full subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines. Its head office is located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. It claims to be the first community airline in Malaysia. Firefly operates from two hubs - Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang, Selangor and Penang International Airport. The airline's first flight was on 3 April 2007, from Penang to Kota Bharu.
Firefly flies from two hubs, Penang and Subang in Kuala Lumpur. The domestic flights from Penang are Langkawi, Kota Bharu, Subang, and international flights are Banda Aceh in Indonesia and Phuket in Thailand. The flights out of Subang are Penang, Langkawi, Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu and Kota Bharu, whereas flights in and out of Singapore was terminated on 30 November 2018.[5]

During its brief jet-operations in 2011, the airline operated flights to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Sandakan and Sibu from its hub in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The airline also previously served an extensive intra-peninsula connection to Kerteh, Kuantan, Ipoh and Malacca from Subang and Singapore. Additionally, it has also halted most of the cross-strait destinations to Sumatra to Pekanbaru, Medan, Batam and the Thai Peninsula to Koh Samui, Hua Hin, Hat Yai and Krabi.
