Hiroyasu Koga is a former Tatenokai member and kaishakunin responsible for the decapitations of Yukio Mishima and Masakatsu Morita during their seppuku on November 25, 1970. He studied law at Kanagawa University, and intended to become a lawyer. Koga, known by the nickname Furu-Koga , was a skilled practitioner of kendo . It was originally planned that Mishima would be decapitated by Masakatsu Morita, the Tatenokai's student leader; however, Morita was not trained in the sword and failed, at which point Koga stepped in to complete it.     The Watarase River is a major river in the northern Kantō region of Japan. A tributary of the Tone River, it is 106.7 kilometres in length and drains an area of 2,621 square kilometres . Its source is at Mount Sukai on the boundary of the city of Nikkō in Tochigi Prefecture and it empties into the Tone River at the boundary of the city of Koga in Ibaraki Prefecture and the city of Kazo in Saitama Prefecture. It is classed as a First-class river by the Japanese government. Although the river currently discharges into the Tone River, its original route was via the Edo River into Tokyo Bay. Its route was changed as part of the massive land reclamation and flood control works undertaken b the Tokugawa shogunate in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The falls are ranked as the third most beautiful waterfall in Japan, coming after Kegon Falls and Nachi Falls . The Fukuroda Falls is listed as one of the Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls, in a listing published by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment in 1990. The closest train station is Fukuroda JR station located 3 kilometers away. By car, the falls can be reached from the Naka Interchange on the Jōban Expresway to Japan National Route 118 in the direction of Omiya.
