Search and Explore: Mercury Bay
Some say that Mercury Bay has it all. Not just the icons of Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach, but a natural environment rich in wildlife and experiences that capture the essence of this place.
Whitianga is a year round destination, home to The Lost Spring and close to idyllic Pacific Coast villages such as Hahei, Cooks Beach, Kuaotunu, Matarangi and Whangapoua - gateway to New Chum Beach. Take your time when visiting The Coromandel, New Zealand and find out why the locals say it's good for your soul

Whangapoua Beach, Coromandel
Whangapoua, beautiful in it's own right, but better known as the place where you start the short hike to get over to New Chums beach.
Watch in 1080p, please give it a thumbs up if you like the footage and subscribe on YouTube.
To reach New Chums, best done during the two hours either side of low tide and beware - the track can get pretty muddy and slippery when wet!
New Chums is well worth the walk though. A beach even more beautiful than Whangapoua, but with no development in sight - for now...

Black Jack BBH Hostel Backpackers - Coromandel NZ
We are trying to stay at backpackers whenever we can on the trip. Not only do they offer fantastic value but they are a great place to meet people on their travels and make new friends - and Myles loves them! He behaves himself golden as well!
The Black Jack Lodge ( black-jack.co.nz/ ) is situated in a fantastic tranquil spot, perfectly located between Coromandel Town and Whitianga, right at the top end of Highway 25. We got an en-suite double with a fantastic deck and views out to the sea for around $85 per night with our BBH cards, the dorm beds here are around $25 a night. The hosts, Carl & Carol, are very accommodating and friendly. The rooms are spotless and the kitchen is the perfect size for the small number of beds here - They have a very high BBH rating and you can see why.
