Situated on the banks of the River Isar, Landshut is the capital of Lower Bavaria, one of the seven administrative regions of the Free State of Bavaria. It is also the seat of the surrounding district, and has a population of more than 70,000. The Church of St. Martin in Landshut is a medieval church in the German city located in the state of Bavaria. St. Martin's Church, along with Trausnitz Castle and the celebration of the Landshuter Hochzeit , are the most important landmarks and historical events of Landshut. This Brick Gothic landmark is the tallest church in Bavaria, and the tallest brick building as well as church in the world. It is also the 2nd tallest brick structure in the world , made without steel supports. St. Martin's church has a height of 130.6 metres .1

St. Stephen's Cathedral is a baroque church from 1688 in Passau, Germany, dedicated to Saint Stephen. It is the seat of the Catholic Bishop of Passau and the main church of his diocese. Since 730, there have been many churches built on the site of the current cathedral. The current church, a baroque building around 100 metres long, was built from 1668 to 1693 after a fire in 1662 destroyed its predecessor, of which only the late gothic eastern side remains. The cathedral's overall plan was made by Carlo Lurago, its interior decoration by Giovanni Battista Carlone, and its frescos by Carpoforo Tencalla. Landshut is a city by the River Isar in Bavaria, southern Germany. It’s well known for the Trausnitz Castle, with its views across the old town.

We stayed in Landshut by accident as we booked accommodation in Munich in the wrong month - the accommodation that was left was either super pricey or pretty crappy. So we booked ourselves into Landshut, which is only a 50 min train ride away from Munich.

What to do in Landshut:
1. Walk down Altstadt
2. Walk down Neustadt
3. Enjoy a late afternoon stroll by the river
4. Walk to Trausnitz Castle and check out the beautiful views over the old town.
5. Visit St Martin's Church
