1. WELCOME TO SPAIN REVEALED!
This is Las Galletas in Tenerife
Quite possibly the least developed resort on the south coast, Las Galletas is an attractive fusion of traditional seaside town with a cosmopolitan new marina, a strong fishing community and a penchant for moules y frites, or mussels and chips to you and me.
A fishing village for as far back as Tenerife's history goes, Las Galletas is fiercely proud of its heritage and determined to retain it which is why you'll see fishing boats bobbing in the bay, a daily fish market on the promenade and not a hotel in sight. Those wanting a daily dose of the Las Galletas experience find their holiday accommodation in the resort of Costa del Silencio, which lies next door.
Tenerife's first ever purpose built holiday complex of TenBel forms the join between Las Galletas and its Costa del Silencio neighbour and has been attracting Belgian visitors to the area for decades – hence the moules y frites. And wherever there are chips...menus along the pretty promenade predominantly feature fins and you'll find some excellent fish and seafood restaurants to choose from. And as if that wasn't enough to have fish foodies salivating already, Las Galletas is in easy distance of the restaurant-lined cove of Los Abrigos where you'll find a surfeit of fine fish dining.
Alongside the buzzing marina and promenade is a sheltered bay where a sand and shingle beach provides the perfect setting for soaking up the resort's generous sunshine quota and watching the light dance on the white fibreglass hulls of yachts and motor launches. Las Galletas beach is known by its tranquility and purity of its crystaline waters. The marina is also the home port for the Must Cat Catamaran which offers one of the best whale, dolphin and turtle watching trips in Tenerife.
Holiday entertainment in Las Galletas is full of highs and lows with a generous layer of rubber thrown in. Hikers will love the trail to Montaña Amarilla where you can walk the coast and climb to the summit of this volcanic cone for views all the way to the lighthouse at Faro de Rasca in one direction and Los Abrigos in the other. Those who prefer to slip into a rubber suit and strap their air supply onto their backs will discover Tenerife's finest diving sites off the coast of Las Galletas and more dive centres in the town than you can flail a flipper at.
Golf enthusiasts have only to venture along the coast a little way to find the resort that was built for them - literally. At Golf del Sur you'll find two top notch championship courses with pristine greens overlooking the ocean and a steady easterly to test the handicap.
Solitude seekers should set out on the path beyond Vai Moana where they'll find themselves on the set of a spaghetti western or in the malpaís as it's known. An endless, arid desert of cacti and scrub where there's no shelter from the sun and nothing to disturb your whistling of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, save perhaps for the occasional naked bather or surf hippie hanging out in one of its hidden coves.
Las Galletas es una localidad del sur de Tenerife, en la provincia de Santa Cruz de Tenerife (España), situada en la zona de costa del municipio de Arona, con una población censada de 6.548 habitantes, según fuentes del ISTAC. Guide to Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest of the Spanish Canary Islands.
If lazing around on a beach does not appeal to you, then you will see places worth visiting in my slide show . I have uploaded photos along with maps where each place is located on the island.
Most British tourists stay in apartments/resorts in Playa de Las Americas & Los Christianos in southern Tenerife.
Further north on the west coast is Los Gigantes famed for its towering cliffs ( the acantillados) and a beautiful black sand beach at Playa de la Arena.
Puerto de la Cruz situated in the north is popular with Spanish tourists and some British holidaymakers. Puerto is the gateway to Teide (Spain's largest peak ) and a local bus departs everyday from the bus Station to the base of the mountain. Once there you can ride the cable car to the top and you can walk around the peak and take in the views. Be careful of jagged edges on volcanic rocks!
At Guimar you can visit the Pyramids and in Candelaria you will see the line statues by the sea.
The scenery on the way to Masca is defintly worth seeing. You can take a local bus, but you have to be careful that you arrive in Santiago before another bus departs for Masca.
It is really a waste of time to spend every day of your holiday at the beach.

Valencia to Granada by Bus | Spain Travel Vlog
Join us as we travel from Valencia to Granada by bus as part of our Spain travel vlogs series. We kick things off with an apartment tour of our airbnb in Valencia, Spain which featured an incredible view of the central market. The place was overall good but at times felt a little small for 4 adults and I think would better suit 2-3 at max.

After a bit of confusion and disorganization arranging taxis to the bus terminal in Valencia we finally arrived and chilled out at the station for an hour before boarding our bus to Granada. The journey itself was really scenic but quite long considering it took 8.5 hours to arrive in Granada. Along the way we stopped for a quick bite in Alicante and the highlight for us all was passing through the mountains as we approached Granada and being mesmerized by all of the snow.

Valencia to Granada by Bus | Spain Travel Vlog Video Transcript:
Good morning guys. We are here in Valencia, Spain at the moment. We had a brilliant five nights here.
I think out of all of the places we've gone so far with my parents this maybe the favorite spot. And I think the big reason was because we had the Central Market. Yeah. Right outside. We're going to show you the views.
We're going on a long trip to Granada. 8 hours on the bus? Something like that. It is going to be a long trip. But before we do that we'll give you an apartment tour of our place here in Valencia.
We are starting this apartment tour right in the living area. Yeah because the best thing about this apartment was obviously the views of the market. An amazing view and don't mind the construction. There is a whole bunch of construction. They are renovating the apartment upstairs. They are renovating the apartment. It has been noisy in here during the day.
Without further adieu let's check out the views. I'll open the door for you.
We absolutely loved the market. It had a very local vibe in the sense that there was lots of produce and meat being sold. Prices were really reasonable. And we ended up going there everyday that it was open.
Right now it is ten thirty. We've got a bus to catch at 12 so we should probably head out the door. We'll pick things up again at the bus station before we board the bus to Granada.
Now we've got an 8 hour bus ride. Well yeah and I'm going to be sleeping a lot on this bus ride. I bet. I think we all are. I'm full as a tick from breakfast. Super omelet. You made us a huge omelet with all of the leftover ingredients. We're all full. We're not even picking up any baked goods. No. We're still digesting brunch. We're good. We're good.
We've been on the road a few hours. It is 2 and a half now so our first stop here is Alicante. Actually there was another quick bus stop but we couldn't get off. Benidorm. Apparently this is going to be our only stop to eat. We only had 20 minutes so I went and grabbed some stuff. Got some chips. I got some vanilla wafers. Cookies. Vanilla cookies. Iced tea. And then the best part is that a jamon sandwich. Oh those are good. A nice meat sandwich so we are all set. We've been eating lots of those. We're all set and that should tide us to Granada where we hope to get a proper dinner when we arrive. Yes, we'll be ready for that.
Alright guys. We finally made it to the apartment. What is it like nine thirty pm or 10 pm?
Tired. I'm already in bed. I'm under the covers. On the computer. I'm done. We're going to watch Star Trek. Yeah. That is how we're going to end our day. But we will have some more really cool videos we hope from Granada soon. We're going to make travel food content and yeah we just need to rest and get a good night's sleep. We'll see you on the next one. Thanks for watching. Bye.
This is part of our Travel in Spain video series showcasing Spanish food, Spanish culture and Spanish cuisine.
