The Punta del Hidalgo lighthouse is an active lighthouse in Punta del Hidalgo within the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna on the northeast coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. This modern lighthouse has a unique angular design, consisting of unequal and irregular columns of increasing height rising from a triangular base. The lower columns culminate in a final square pillar which faces the sea and supports a light on a small post.It is one of seven lighthouses which mark the coastline of Tenerife, and lies between two other modern lighthouses of Puerto de la Cruz to the southwest, and Punta de Anaga to the east.

The Playa de Las Teresitas is a beach north of the village of San Andrés municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in Tenerife, Spain. Originally the beach consisted of mostly rocks and a small strip of black sand. It was divided into three distinct parts that had different names: Tras la Arena which was the original, Los Moros in the middle, and finally the area bounded by the ravine of Las Teresas. In 1973, 270,000 tons of white sand was shipped from Spanish Sahara to create an artificial beach of white sand. Two piers and a kilometer long breakwater located 150 meters from the beach was constructed to prevent waves from carrying the sand out to the sea. Tant qu'à être dans le coin, nous avons donc décidé de poursuivre notre route jusqu'à Punta del Hidalgo.

Sachant que la mer était calme, la piscine d'eau de mer serait certainement ouverte, ce qui n'était pas le cas lors de notre première visite (voir cette vidéo:

Et bien oui, celle-ci était ouverte et plusieurs personnes s'y baignaient déjà. Nous avons donc fait comme eux et nous nous sommes élancés dans l'eau.

Un moment de détente bien mérité, mais surtout une moment de pur bonheur dans un décor naturellement enchanteur.

Travel Canaries: amazing Anaga mountains on Tenerife

Anaga Mountains Tenerife occupy the north-east part of the island. This is the greenest part of Tenerife, covered with rain forest at higher altitudes, roughly starting from about 600 meters above the sea level. The highest spot of the area is at Cruz del Taborno (1024 m). So this is a lower part of the island, as compared with the southwest part with Teide, Pico Viejo, Guajara and other mountains.

Just a few days before starting writing this page, I was delighted to read about this news: by the decision of UNESCO, the Anaga area has been included into World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

Anaga is a region of exceptional natural beauties and this decision of UNESCO is fully justified. The climate of Anaga is very specific and affected by trade winds.

Anaga mountains contain several zones of special protection, and those are Ijuana, El Pijaral, and Los Roques de Anaga.
