It is located in the department of Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, 10 kilometres north of Poitiers, in the communes of Chasseneuil-du-Poitou and Jaunay-Clan. The park had 1.83 million visitors in 2015. The Parc Oriental de Maulévrier is a Japanese garden located in Maulévrier, Maine-et-Loire, Pays de la Loire, France. It is open daily except Monday in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The park was created between 1899-1913 on the grounds of Château Colbert by noted Parisian architect Alexandre Marcel , designer of the Cambodia pavilion at the Exposition Universelle , for the château's industrialist owner. The Château du Rivau is a castle-palace in Lémeré , in the Touraine region, France. In Rabelais' Gargantua, it was given to captain Tolmere as a reward for his victories in the Picrocholean Wars. In 1429, towards the end of the Hundred Years' War, before the siege of Orleans, Joan of Arc and her followers came to fetch horses at Le Rivau, already renowned for the quality of its equipage and war horses who were raised there. In 1510 François de Beauvau, captain of King Francis I of France, constructed the monumental stables, in the outbuildings' courtyard, that supplied royal stallions. The Château de Langeais is a medieval castle in Indre-et-Loire, France, built on a promontory created by the small valley of the Roumer River at the opening to the Loire Valley. Founded in 992 by Fulk Nerra, Count of Anjou, the castle was soon attacked by Odo I, Count of Blois. After the unsuccessful attack, the now-ruined stone keep was built; it is one of the earliest datable stone examples of a keep. Between 994 and 996 the castle was besieged unsuccessfully twice more. During the conflict between the counts of Anjou and Blois, the castle changed hands several times, and in 1038 Fulk captured the castle again. Le Grand Parc du Puy du Fou, Vendee, France

A Scenic walk around Le Grand Park fu Puy du Fou while on holiday in the Vendee, France. On the day we visited the temperature was already 31C at 10:00 so on our arrival we took the opportunity to cool off at one of the many cool water vapour spots around the Grand Park while watching the jets of water, jets sauteurs just as a flying machine went overhead followed by three birds in formation. Then a walk to the woods to admire the artificially generated mist and from there onto Les Orgues Aquatiques (fountains in the lake). After stopping off for another cooling from one of the cool water vapour points we made our way to Le Bourg 1900.

Puy du Fou is a very impressive and large Theme Park in the Vendee with plenty of shows, events and side shows all through the day, and with plenty of other things to see while at the Park such as the Medieval village and the 19th century village to explore the Park fully and take in all the shows and side shows is a good two days visit, and even then to see everything in just two days is a rush.

We've been to the Park twice over the years, the first time just a one day by chance visit the second time, which was just as good, was a planned two days visit. One both occasions we made a point of staying on to watch the two hour open air evening show which takes place after dark and has a cast of 1000 actors, and is very impressive.

The Lavaux vineyards

The Lavaux vineyards have been part of the Unesco World Heritage Programme since 2007. It's a tribute to the unique interaction here between man and nature, and is designed to protect the region from creeping urbanisation.
