Sallertaine is a commune in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region in western France. Apart from the two historical churches, the village is well known as an arts and crafts community due to the number of independent craftsmen and women who occupy various outlets, often in former homes, during the summer months. These range from potters and painters to jewellers and purveyors of fine, local foods. Planète Sauvage is a zoological park situated in the French Atlantic coast, in Port-Saint-Père near Nantes, in the Loire-Atlantique departement. The Parc Oriental de Maulévrier is a Japanese garden located in Maulévrier, Maine-et-Loire, Pays de la Loire, France. It is open daily except Monday in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The park was created between 1899-1913 on the grounds of Château Colbert by noted Parisian architect Alexandre Marcel , designer of the Cambodia pavilion at the Exposition Universelle , for the château's industrialist owner. Moulin de Raire, France: Guided Tour of a Working Windmill Since 1555

Moulin de Raire, near Sallertaine, Vendee, France is a working windmill that has been in continuous operation since 1555 and still mill flour to this day.

As a great tourist attraction, this windmill is fantastic; and makes for a great afternoon out as part of a day trip sightseeing while on holiday in the Vendee near Noirmourtier Island. The guided tour should have only taken an hour but the guides (father and son who run the mill) insisted on explaining everything in English (as they re-demonstrated how things work) specifically for the benefit of me and my son, so the whole tour took two hours, during which time the French tourist (about a dozen) were all very patient as the guides re-explained everything in English.

This video clip is in French because I was too busy paying attention to the guides when they were explaining the workings of the windmill in English i.e. not wishing to appear inconsiderate as I and my son were the only audience at those points of the tour. Nevertheless, with the ‘text’ inserts the video is generally self-explanatory and does give a general overview, if not fine details e.g. that the windmill requires a minimum wind speed of 10mph to work, and during storms where the winds may become too fast the sails need to be fastened down and chained to the building.

Ténérife : un bon plan vacances à redécouvrir

La compagnie aérienne Air Europa, associée aux Offices de tourisme d'Espagne et de Ténérife, a organisé un éductour dans l'archipel des Canaries, en mai 2011.

Les agents de voyages invités ont pu apprécier les atouts d'une destination qui attire chaque année 5 millions de touristes, mais seulement 100.000 Français.

Ténérife n'est pas à proprement parler une destination balnéaire comme le laissent imaginer les clichés. C'est aussi, surtout, une île où on peut randonner, observer des baleines, bien manger, bien boire et découvrir l'architecture coloniale.

Un bon plan vacances en définitive !
