Cancun, Mexico Travel Guide - Must-See Attractions
Cancun is a city in southeastern Mexico, located on the southeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It is a major world-renowned tourist destination, as well as being the seat of the municipality of Benito Juárez. The city is located on the Caribbean Sea, and is one of the easternmost points in Mexico. Cancún is located just north of Mexico's Caribbean coast resort band known as the Riviera Maya.
The most important places to visit in Cancun are: Chichen Itza (the world famous Mayan ruins with thousands of years of history are one of the most visited sites in the world), Isla Mujeres (Cancun is surrounded by spectacular scenery. Isla Mujeres, a small gorgeous island close to Cancun, is simply spectacular), Cenotes (these magical underwater natural pools are a big draw around the Cancun area. Many have rocky edge formations above them), Tulum (outside of Cancun, a unique site. You can go for a swim in turquoise waters and visit the famous ruins of Mayan civilization), Cancun beaches (Cancun, located in the Yucatan region of Mexico, has many great attractions. Start with the white sand beaches of Cancun City) and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Cancun travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.
Worst Places for Americans to Visit Around The World
Get more Tips here!
Whether they pose a threat to travelers’ safety, or may cause detrimental harm to one’s physical health, here is our list of the 10 worst places for Americans to visit around the world.
1. Saudi Arabia
The U.S. Department of State advises Americans to exercise extreme caution when visiting Saudi Arabia, due to, in part, the increased amount of armed conflict. One place in particular, Edge of the World in Riyadh, was once an insanely popular tourist destination. But, maybe, it's better to stay away.
2. El Salvador
Amazing views, delicious cuisine and impressive ruins will have to wait due to the increase in violence. One day, Americans may finally get the green light to make the trek to El Salvador again.
3. Somalia
The U.S. Department of State even suggests those who ignore their warning to draft their last will and testament before heading out to this East African country. The country’s prime minister has dreams of a brighter future, and our fingers are crossed, too, cause it's an amazing place.
4. Honduras
Americans might want to think twice about traveling to Honduras, especially since the lack of police and increased incidents of crime. Hopefully it will change soon, cause there's so much to see about Maya history.
5. Democratic Republic of the Congo
It's not a good place because of the problems with the Ebola and armed conflict. But it's a very different place full of beautiful mountains, volcanoes and the Lake Kivu.
6. Bangkok, Thailand
This county is quite the opposite, it's not a good place because of us, the tourists. It's so crowded that we're starting to affect negatively the country. So, maybe, it's better it give it a time.
7. Afghanistan
Recent wars, Communist coups, and attacks make it a really bad place to visit. Hopefully, one day we'll be able to see the stunning Hindu Kush mountains and breathtaking lakes.
8. North Korea
It isn’t entirely impossible to visit North Korea, and the U.S. Department of State advises its citizens that traveling to the East Asian country could result in arrest and long-term detention by the hands of North Korea’s government officials.
9. Mount Everest
Mountain trekkers have to come up with the estimated $40,000 to be guided up the mountain by a local Nepali operator, and there are physical dangers for climbing to the peak, as well, including frostbite and hypothermia from the freezing temperatures. So... a bit risky.
10. Beijing, China
This is the worst place to visit because of the serious air pollution. They have made smog a huge problem in the city, resulting in the government to implement emergency measures to help alleviate the problem. You should wait until they fix it.
Which one do you think is the worst place to visit?

Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico:
My wife Ying and I, and our baby Micah, traveled to Mexico with my friend Carlos and his family. I met Carlos many years ago in University in Phoenix, Arizona, and he’s originally from Sonora, in Northern Mexico. Throughout University, Carlos and I would eat Mexican food non-stop, and we dreamed of traveling in Mexico to experience more. Finally we made this trip happen!
We actually flew into Cancun, and then immediately drove down to Playa Del Carmen where we based ourselves. On our first day we decided to take a day trip to Tulum, a small town on the Riviera Maya coast, and one of the official historical port cities of the Maya.
Taquería Honorio - First things first, we started off with some breakfast tacos at a well known Mexican street food spot in Tulum. I had a mix of four different types of tacos, all of which were extraordinary, but probably the best was the lechon, the roast suckling pig. This is a must eat tacos restaurant when you’re in Tulum.
Price for my plate - 64 MXN ($3.45)
Ruins of Tulum - 70 MXN ($3.77) - One of the main attractions in Tulum are the ancient Mayan ruins. It’s a beautiful place, and what makes it so incredible are not only the ruins, but the fact that they are right up along the gorgeous turquoise Caribbean coast. It was great to walk around, even though it was packed with visitors.
Playa Paraiso - Next we drove over to Playa Paraiso, just down the beach from the Ruins of Tulum, which crystal sparkling water.
Chamico’s - By lunchtime we were all very hungry, so we drove over to a place called Chamico’s a spot I had searched out on Google maps. Just from the photos it looked like a place I needed to go, from the relaxing atmosphere to the amazing fresh seafood. It was just as good as I had imagined. The restaurant was right along the beach, breezy, and the Mexican food was amazing. We had a few plates of ceviche, fried fish, and a shrimp cocktail.
Total price (for 4) - 1,180 MXN ($63.53)
Tulum, Mexico, is a true beach paradise, and it’s an amazing place to visit in Mexico. Thank you for watching!

Guatemala Travel Video Guide
Guatemala Travel Video Guide - Guatemala has a rich and distinctive culture from the long mix of elements from Spain and the native Maya people. This diverse history and the natural beauty of the land have created a destination rich in interesting and scenic sites.
Spanning a mountainous slice of Central America immediately south of Mexico, Guatemala is loaded with incredible natural, historical and cultural appeal. As the birthplace and heartland of the ancient Maya, the country is in many ways defined by the legacy of this early civilization. Their rainforest cities were abandoned centuries ago, but Maya people continue to thrive in the Guatemalan highlands, where traditions and religious rituals, mingled with Catholic practices, endure to form the richest and most distinctive indigenous identity in the hemisphere.
Guatemala today is very much a synthesis of Maya and colonial traditions, fused with the omnipresent influences of twenty-first century Latin and North American culture. Baroque churches dating back to the Spanish Conquest coexist with pagan temples that have been sites of worship for millennia. Highland street markets prosper alongside vast glitzy shopping malls, and pre-Columbian festival dances are performed by teenage hip-hop fans.

Day Trip to Badalona, Spain
Day Trip to Badalona, Spain
David takes us on another adventure in the Spanish region of Catalunya (Catalonia) to the beachside town of Badalona. Just a metro ride away from Barcelona, Badalona offers a charming respite front the hustle and bustle of city life. In this episode David takes us around town to show us what to do on a day trip to Badalona. Hint: it involves two of David’s favorite things: history and food!
First stop is are the Roman ruins that Badalona is known for. In ancient times, Badalona was known as “Baetulo and Barcelona was known as “Barcino.” Both were large seaports with an extensive network of roads, residential quarters, and public buildings. The ruins of ancient Baetulo are housed within the Badalona Museum, located in the center of town at Plaça Assemblea de Catalunya, 1. The city dates back to the 1st century B.C., making it one of the oldest Roman settlements on the Iberian Peninsula!
Directions to Museum: Go the very end of L2 (the purple one) on the Metro at Badalona Pompeu Fabra. From the main exit go up hill to the next set of traffic lights and cross Avinguda de Martí Pujol and then go along Via Augusta for a couple of hundred metres. The Museum is on the corner of Via Agusta and Carrer de les Termes Romanes.
David takes us around the main exhibits of the museum, showing us the beautiful mosaics, old city walls, cardo maximus, and several artifacts uncovered at the site (pottery, coins, lamps, sculptures, and carvings). The Badalona Museum is especially interesting thanks to interactive displays and knowledgeable staff who provide detailed explanations about how Romans lived during that time.
A short walk from the museum is Casa Dels Dofins, a enclosed archaeological site containing the remains of a wealthy Roman “domus” or home. True to the architectural style of the time, all the rooms in the domus are centered around an atrium (courtyard). The name of the home, which means “house of the dolphins” comes from the dolphin mosaics found at the site. A walk around the Casa Dels Dofins exhibit reveals just how beautiful this house must have been during its Baetulo’s prime.
After so much history, David works up quite an appetite, so he heads to a popular seafood restaurant in town. With an endless supply of fresh fish from the Mediterranean, it is no wonder why La Donzella de la Costa restaurant is always packed. David tries some of the house specialties including razor clams, fried sardines and shrimp, octopus, monkfish filet, and a tasty seafood paella. Then he tops it all off with a dessert sampling of tarts and Crema Catalana (creme brûlée). Prices are reasonable and the view can’t be beat!
If it’s fun in the sun that you crave, Badalona has a gorgeous stretch of beach perfect for swimming and relaxing. The seafront promenade is lines with cafes, restaurants, and shops. So you see, there is much to hold you in Badalona for a day or two, which makes it a great day trip option from Barcelona.

EXPLORING PLAYA DEL CARMEN
Playa del Carmen, now the third-largest city in Quintana Roo, ranks up there with Tulum as one of the Riviera's trendiest cities. Sitting coolly on the lee side of Cozumel, the town’s beaches are jammed with super-fit Europeans.
The town is ideally located: close to Cancún’s international airport, but far enough south to allow easy access to Cozumel, Tulum, Cobá and other worthy destinations. The reefs here are excellent, and offer diving and snorkeling close by. Look for rays, moray eels, sea turtles and a huge variety of corals. The lavender sea fans make for very picturesque vistas.
