Alor Setar - Tourist Attractions in Malaysia
Alor Setar, (Jawi: الور ستار; formerly Alor Star from 2004-2008) is the capital and largest city of Kedah, Malaysia, and is one of the major cities on the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The city houses the Kota Setar District Administrative Centre at Muadzam Shah and Anak Bukit, the royal city of Kedah.
Alor Setar is located 93 kilometres north of Penang and 45 km from Malaysia's border with Thailand. Its location along the main travel route from Malaysia to Thailand has long made it a major transportation hub in the northern Malay Peninsula. At present, the city covers a land area of 666 km2, which is occupied by more than 300,000 thousand inhabitants (as per the 2010 census). At the local government level, Alor Setar is administered by the Alor Setar City Council.
The city is served by the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, which began operations in 2006. The airport is currently not serviced by any commercial international flights; however, during the Haj season, there are special flights available for Muslim pilgrims journeying to Saudi Arabia to perform the Haj. In terms of land routes, the city is connected to other parts of Peninsular Malaysia by the North-South Expressway, the Shahab Perdana Bus Station and the Alor Setar railway station. The city also boasts the Kuala Kedah Jetty, which is served by ferries linking the city with the popular resort island of Langkawi.
Alor Setar the birthplace of two Prime Ministers, YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister, and Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister.

The 2nd Penang Bridge Megastructures
Work on the Second Penang bridge in Malaysia is expected to be completed by November 8 and it will open to the public several days later.
The bridge spans 24 km, including 16.9 km over the sea, and will link Batu Kawan with Batu Maung. It is built to withstand earthquakes of up to 7.5 magnitude. Lights on the bridge will change color to coincide with Malaysia's major festivities.
According to the Star Online, the commissioning of the bridge's power supply has been completed. All of the bridge's street lights were recently illuminated during a launch rehearsal.
There will be two lanes for cars and one for motorcycles in each direction, with a speed limit of 80 kph.
Two oyster shell shaped panoramic platforms in the middle of the bridge will allow tourists to park their cars and enjoy the view. A pedestrian crossing will also connect both platforms.
The US$1.4 billion bridge will be the longest bridge ever built in Southeast Asia.

CRYSTAL CLEAR BLUE LAKE IN MALAYSIAN JUNGLE
Part two of my time in the Malaysian Jungle just, in the outskirts of Kota Tinggi. It was an awesome experience to connect with nature and enjoy everything it has to offer!
The people I met, and watching the way they lived their day-to-day lives has made understand how much I take my own life and opportunities for granted. It was a life-changing experience that I wanted to share with you all!
p.s: Something I missed in this chapter:
A huge spider was on Doug's face at 3:00am and spooked us all. Other than that it was a pleasant experience.

Malaysia In a Minute - Pekan
An easy one-hour bus trip from Kuantan (see seperate clip) is Pekan, the former royal capital of the Pahang state. This laidback riverside town now boasts numerous mosques, museums and old buldings worth exploring.
This is part of a series of one-minute film clips to help tourists answer a fundamental question: do I want go here or do this? Text can be boring and misleading, while photos can be altered and selective. The best option is to watch a film clip that's short and easy to download.

Penang
Malaysian state
Population: 1.719 million (2016)
Penang is a Malaysian state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait. It has two parts: Penang Island, where the capital city, George Town, is located, and Seberang Perai (formerly Province Wellesley) on the Malay Peninsula. The second smallest Malaysian state by land mass, Penang is bordered by Kedah to the north and the east, and Perak to the south.[2]
Penang's population stood at nearly 1.75 million as of 2017, while its population density rose to 1,666.3/km2 (4,316/sq mi).[3] Thus, Penang has among the highest population densities in Malaysia and is one of the country's most urbanised states.[4] Penang Island, which includes George Town, is Malaysia's second largest city by population.[5] George Town, in particular, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a thriving tourist destination.
