Panauti (Nepal) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Panauti in Nepal.
The dreamy Nepalese town of Panauti is located around thirty kilometres south east of Kathmandu and unlike other nearby villages and towns its original atmosphere has managed to survive the rigours of time. This traditional Newar settlement has a particularly rural character and a variety of farm products are offered for sale throughout the town. Panauti boasts a large number of fascinating temples and in the centre of its temple complex is the fifteenth century Indreshvara Temple. Panauti’s deep religious significance is closely associated with its unique geographical location and two rivers. According to traditional Nepalese Hindu belief the confluence of the two rivers has always been considered to be a sacred place. Panauti’s sanctuaries and temples have had a remarkable influence on this fascinating Nepalese town and for several centuries they have enriched this otherwise modest and humble Newar settlement.

Panauti Homestay - Your Home away from Home
City of cultures & traditions, Panauti is one of the oldest in the Kathmandu valley with plenty of temples, public resting places (patis), courtyards, and so forth, most of them built with terracotta. The entire rural township with its unique architecture proves the craftmanship of medieval time. Small and narrow alleys paved with stones and bricks add beauty to the town. The town has a lot of festivals too, and some are unique in its own kind.
Apart from historic setting of the town, great families are waiting to welcome you to their humble abodes as a part of Home Stay program. If you are looking to know Nepal and Nepalis more intimately, this homestay program is just the thing for you to experience. There can be no better way to get a deeper insight into the Nepali psyche and gain a better understanding of the local customs. But, keep in mind that you certainly will not get the kind of modern facilities you might be used to back home, or the amenities that star hotels provide, you can most definitely look forward to being welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality. All these Home Stays are run by the by the women for the women. Panauti Community Homestay is their initiative to empower all the womens of the town.
PANAUTI-KAVRE-NEPAL : Travel Nepal - UNESCO WORLD Heritage List
Panauti is a historical city in Nepal, originally it was a small state given by King Bhupatindra Malla as a dowry to his sister. This town has a population of under 10,000 people and a few prominent icons, such as the Indreswor temple and Durbar square found in the town center. At the end of the 13th Century, Panauti was finally integrated into the unified kingdom of Nepal, along with Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur, which are all former capital cities of the Kathmandu valley. Panauti was a trading hub along the ancient Salt Trade route between Tibet and India. Actually, the recorded history of Panauti goes back to the first century AD. However, with the end of the Salt trade in the 1950s and the construction of the Arniko Highway in the 1960s bypassing this old town, Panauti has gone into an economic rut. Panauti, consists of a variety of Buddhist and Hindu religious monuments, and is considered to be one of the area's most important medieval sites.
Panauti is also steeped in culture and tradition. Visitors will often find colorful stones, petals and other items that are laid out on the pavement to welcome everyone with great hospitality.
Panauti, situated at the confluence of the two rivers Rosi and Punyamati, has been regarded as an important religious site since very early times. In Nepali society, such river scared places. A visit or just an ablution in such places enables man to be freed from many sins and anxieties. Moreover, it is also believed that at Panauti, in addition to aforesaid two rivers, a third river Lilawati also converges making it again a tri-junction called Triveni. However, the last one is said to be visible only to the sheers and the intellectuals. The presence of this at Panauti has added and remarkably enhanced its religious sanctity and popularity as well. On account of this, every festive occasion, a great number of devotees from all across the country pour here for a holy ablution and to pay homage to the nearby Indreshwor Mahadev Temple and other holy sites located here. The site is also regarded as Prayagtirtha of Nepal.

Panauti is a town tucked away in the valley, just two hours from Kathmandu and is known as having escaped the two big earthquakes which rocked Nepal. One thing which makes it a meaningful travel highlight of Nepal was the Panauti community homestay I experienced, where I got to stay with a local Nepali family.

Mountain Trekking near Kathmandu (Dhulikhel to Panauti)
Mountain Trekking near Kathmandu (Dhulikhel to Panauti)
One of the nice routes to trek nearby Kathmandu is definitely the Dhulikhel to Panauti (or Nagarkot) trail. This trek can be done in one day but best to spend the night in Dhulikhel then the second day trek to Namobuddha Monastery or directly to Panauti.
Best views of the Himalaya Range can be observed during the dry or winter season (October to January) however if this trek can be done safely any time of year.
Dhulikhel is located less than two hours from Kathmandu - by local bus which stops everywhere...
Panauti is worth visiting as an end of the trek. It is a small town with well preserved old temples.
बन्दीपुर | The Ultimate Guide to Exploring Bandipur | Mapping Nepal
#MappingNepal #Bandipur #VMAG
One of Nepal's most beautiful but yet astonishingly less traveled hilltop settlement, Bandipur is a living, breathing gallery of Newari culture where the lifestyle is well preserved and stone-paved road is dotted with traditional architecture.
Today the village houses have evolved into modern cafes and home-stays, and the temples and monuments have been pulled back from the edge of ruin. And all thanks to its appealing 18th-century architecture, pedestrian zone and outdoor dining, it has a distinct European countryside vibe - something that will make the time come to a halt. Almost!
Historically, Bandipur was an important stop on the India–Tibet trade route for centuries until it was bypassed by the Prithvi Highway in the 1960s. While it has since turned to tourism, it still remains very much a living community, bustling with farmers and traders going about their business. It is one place that every Nepali NEEDS to visit at least once in their lifetime so that they pause to savor this discerning place and its lifestyle.
