Shocking Things Only Pilots Know About The Flight
Most of us already know what to expect on a standard flight; strange smells, no leg room, horrible free food or expensive snacks and drinks... It's standard knowledge that is well known among passengers. But, what about the pilots? What's it like to fly in the cockpit? Well here are 10 Things Only Pilots Know About The Flight.
1 PILOT NAPS
Yes, they do take naps. Some of them work 14 hours a day, so this helps them stay refreshed, enough to fly us home safely. But, don't worry, that's why there are two pilots, they don't sleep at the same time, they take turns.
2 LIGHTNING
Although the plane can get struck by lightning that doesn’t mean it’ll bringing the plane down. All you'd notice, if the plane was truck by lightning, would be a large boom and a bright flash, but that’s all. Thankfully, the plane is prepared to withstand lightning strikes.
3 THEY EAT DIFFERENT FOOD
Well, we don't mean they eat special food or anything, they'll still be choosing from the same menu as the rest of the passengers, well maybe a little bit more improved. But they won't both choose the same thing, just in case one of them gets sick from what they ate. So, you will always have a healthy pilot flying the plane. Unless both meals were off...
4 ENGINES DO FAIL
The engines are machines and as all machines they break down from time to time. And seeing as a plane spends 80% of its time on the air... they usually break during the flight. But don't worry, pilots can perfectly fly with one engine. In most cases, you won't even notice and the pilot won’t even tell you, so you don't panic.
5 IT’S EXPENSIVE TO BECOME A PILOT
Most people think that pilots have the luxury lifestyle but... well, they do... but not at the beginning, first they have to pay thousands of dollars to get the hours needed to fly as a co-pilot, and that means spending lots of money renting a plane in order to get time in the sky.
6 LANDINGS
Although 90 percent of the flight is done by autopilot, the take-off and landing are all in the hands of the pilots. So, as you can imagine, if they can land smoothly and without incident then they'll be considered a good pilot. And if they have less precision, well, then not so good.
7 PILOTS WARN ATTENDANTS FIRST
Pilots know the weather they're about to fly through and if it's likely to cause turbulence they'll immediately warn the flight first attendants. So if you see flight attendants rushing to their seats to sit down. The best thing you can do is to imitate them.
8 IMPORTANCE OF TIME
For the pilots, the most important thing on their flight is not you, nope, but their on-time performance. Lots of people miss a connecting flight if a passenger turnes up late. So... the plane won't wait for you at the gate.
9 FAA RULES
Not even the pilots understand some of the FAA rules in relation to passengers. Like, why passengers have to keep seat belts on after landing, while the plane's on the ground, being taxied to the terminal when they're allowed to stand up and use the bathroom at 39 thousand feet while traveling at 400mph. At least we're not alone in those thoughts.
10 ROUGH LANDINGS
According to pilots, some hard landings are done on purpose, as a way to solve tricky landing situations. So if the runway is slick, icy, snow-covered or short, they can hit down hard to create more friction to stop the plane. Clever...

10 Things NOT To Do in Germany
Get more Tips here! destinationtips.com
If you’re planning a trip Germany, use this quick guide of things you should avoid doing if you don’t want to ruffle feathers!
1. No Pillow Fights!
According to German law, a pillow can be regarded as a passive weapon. Injure someone with a pillow and you could be charged with assault. Unless of course, it's on International Pillow Fight Day.
2. No Drilling on Sundays
Germans take the day of rest seriously, and no loud activities are allowed on this peaceful day. Vacuum at your own risk.
3. Avoid Talking about the War
Most Germans believe the war to be a huge embarrassment to their nation, and would rather not discuss it. Never do the Nazi salute as it’s an imprisonable offense in Germany.
4. Don’t Close Your Door to a Chimney Sweep
It’s actually illegal to refuse entry to a chimney sweep, and all Germans pay for this service whether they have a chimney or not. The law stems from the Middle Ages, but was reinforced back when Hitler used them as a network of spies.
5. Don’t Sing the Original First Verse of the National Anthem
During the Nazi era only the first verse was sung.
In an effort to distance themselves from Nazi connotations, the official anthem is now the third verse. Pete Doherty once made this highly inappropriate mistake and was booed.
6. Don’t Run Out of Gas
Doing so on the superhighway can lead to fines. The law is primarily against unnecessary stops, but has been applied to fools who drive without adequate fuel.
7. Never Walk in Bicycle Lanes
Most German cities have plenty of these; numerous cycle lanes for people to get about. However walking on them is not only extremely annoying to pedal pushers, it can be downright dangerous.
8. Don’t Be Late
Being late to appointments is severely frowned upon. The more relaxed attitude typically found in southern European countries simply doesn’t cut it here. Aim to be punctual if not a little early.
9. Don’t Keep Your Shoes on in Homes
Taking your shoes off when enter somebody’s home is widely expected in Germany. Hosts will often provide you with some indoor house shoes.
10. Never Drink Without a Toast
Germany is famous for its beer scene, however it is considered bad form to take the first sip without giving a toast. Usually a toast is as simple as saying “Prost” (cheers!) Make sure to keep eye contact as not doing so is believed to bring bad luck.
Now you know what NOT to do, enjoy your time in Germany! Prost!
5 Things NOT To Do in Argentina

There’s so much to see and do in Argentina that an adventurous traveler could get positively lost in its wonder. Of course, there are also some important things to know before you visit. Here are 5 Things NOT To Do in Argentina!
Know before you go!
1. Don’t Expect a Quiet Vacation
Perhaps the most important thing to understand when you’re visiting Argentina is that the people are loud. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just a cultural difference you should expect before you arrive.
2. Don’t Walk Around Without a Map
Anyone visiting Buenos Aires should know that the city can alternate socioeconomic levels on a block by block basis. Tourist hotspots may be just a few feet away from impoverished ghettos and you don’t want to accidentally end up on the wrong block in Argentina.
3. Don’t Go to Bed Early!
If there was ever an entire country of people who lived for the night, it’s Argentina. Dinner isn’t typically served until about 10:00 pm and clubs don’t start jumping until after 2:00 am! Most locals only sleep about six hours a night and then take a short nap during the day.
4. Don’t Pet the Dogs
Some of the larger bus stations have packs of feral dogs who live in the area. Usually they won’t mess with you, but just in case it’s best to take a wide berth.
5. Don’t Skip the ‘Milonga’
Milongas are Argentinian dancehalls that specialize in tango. Most feature an incredible variety of skill levels on the dance floor. Just leave your self-consciousness at the door.

A Plane Disappeared And Landed 37 Years Later
What would you do if you went on a vacation to another city and suddenly found yourself in another country altogether? Most of us would be confused. Even the most reckless of adventurers would at least raise an eyebrow if told they’d flown for close to half a century.
On July 2, 1955, Pan American Flight 914 made its way from New York to Miami, Florida. It was a fine sunny day, and 57 passengers on board the plane were looking forward to seeing the warm beaches and palm trees of Florida. The plane took off without trouble, but 3 hours later, when it should’ve already landed at the destination airport, it was nowhere to be seen. When air traffic control contacted the New York tower, they got a perplexing reply: Flight 914 just disappeared from the radars in mid-air.

SUMMARY:
- On July 2, 1955, Pan American Flight 914 made its way from New York to Miami, Florida. It was a fine sunny day, and 57 passengers on board the plane were looking forward to seeing the warm beaches and palm trees of Florida.
- Everything indicated that the plane was lost: apart from having vanished from the radars, air traffic control couldn’t get through to the pilots with the radio.
- Eventually, although the case was never really solved, there was an official statement that the plane crashed, taking the lives of everyone on board.
- Change of scenery. It’s now September 9, 1992, and we’re in Caracas, Venezuela. It’s a perfectly normal day for Juan de la Corte, air traffic controller at the Caracas airport.
- Seemingly out of nowhere, a new dot appeared on the radar. It was as if an aircraft had just popped up from nothingness, or as if it had been hiding from the radar and now decided to show up.
- In less than 10 minutes, the culprit showed up in the field of vision. At first it looked to the air traffic control like an ordinary airplane, but as it got closer, they could see that it was, in fact, very oldю
- The real confusion began when the pilot of the mysterious aircraft contacted the tower and asked in English, “Where are we?”
- The pilot said his flight was scheduled to land at the Miami airport at 9.55 am on July 2, 1955. Now it was time for the tower to fall into silence.
- Ground units were immediately called to assist the plane and the passengers, and it landed without trouble. Having relaxed a little bit, Juan finally decided to ask something that bothered him. “Do you know today is May 21, 1992?”
- Juan heard the flight captain’s panicky voice saying, “No! Stay away! We’re leaving now!” And indeed, he started the engines again and, without waiting for take-off clearance, taxied the plane to the runway.
- There’s much dispute about the credibility of this event. Back in 1985, a tabloid called Weekly World News was the first to cover this story.
- However, the legend still lives, and many sources retell it in their own way. Some even go as far as to say that the passengers of the plane eventually returned to their homes.
- One thing that keeps popping up on the Internet and piquing the interest of paranormal enthusiasts is a small pocket calendar that somehow was left on the Caracas airport runway when the notorious plane took off.

Things NOT To Do in Thailand
Thailand is a beautiful country, often called the “land of smiles”, however, that does not mean that you shouldn’t be versed in some of the local customs before visiting. Today we bring you 12 things NOT to do in Thailand so if you're planning a trip there, first you'll want to heed these warnings!
1. Don’t Hug Monks
You'll find the monks are super friendly, but hands off, please. Monks are not allowed to touch women. Even on buses monks are not allowed to sit directly next to a woman. It is also forbidden to stand over or be positioned higher than a monk.
2. Never Use Your Feet
Feet are considered the lowest, dirtiest part of the body in many Asian cultures and the head is the highest. So do not hold doors open with your feet, point your feet towards the Buddha images or angle your feet towards people. Be especially mindful of your feet position when you're sitting or eating on the floor.
3. Don’t Disrespect the Royal Family
You will see many pictures commemorating them throughout the country and it is disrespectful to say anything negative about them. Don't stomp on a Thai coin as it rolls away as you're not only disrespecting the Crown, but also breaking rule 2.
4. Don’t Take Your Clothes Off
Walking around town in beach attire is considered impolite. Be extra-conscious of your attire when visiting temples. Dress preferably in white and women should wear long skirts or pants and have their shoulders covered.
5. Avoid Pointing with Your Fingers
When hailing for a tuk-tuk or beckoning a waiter, do not point
your fingers up. Never clap, snap your fingers, or whistle to get someone’s attention, as Thais regard it akin to calling a dog.
6. Don't Touch a Thai’s Head
Thais see the head as the highest part of the body so refrain from ruffling people's hair. If you happen to by accident, apologize immediately. Thai people will sometimes pat a child on the head, but as a Westerner it’s best not to. Now if you stomp on a coin you'll be breaking 3 rules!
7. Can’t Take Buddha Pictures Out of Thailand
It is technically illegal to take or send any pictures of Buddha out of the country! Nonetheless, many shop owners will still try to sell you pictures, and many tourists snap selfies in front of sacred Buddha statues. Just be discreet and respectful about it.
8. Don’t Lose Your Temper
Thais have a philosophy of keeping their cool;jai yen (cool heart). Thais see raising one’s voice as bad form. Don’t get frustrated, “mai pen rai” as the locals say.
9. Don’t Eat with a Fork
There are no specific dining times so visitors can enjoy cheap yet delicious food all day and night but watch your utensils. You may be given a fork and spoon, but it is only the spoon that touches one’s mouth. Also, chopsticks are only to be used when eating Chinese dishes.
10. Never Whistle at Night
Thais will become very uneasy if they hear a whistle after dark as they believe that whistling at night is bad luck because you’re calling the evil spirits.
11. Don’t Let a Tuk-Tuk Driver Take You To a Gem Shop
This is one of the biggest scams in the tourist areas of Thailand. Drivers will try to persuade you to visit a special gem shop, often a dodgy kick-back shop where tourists are harassed. In extreme cases, they are sometimes drugged and are cheated out of money in exchange for fake jewelry.
12. Don’t Shake Hands
Thais do not like to have personal contact when greeting strangers. Rather, they place both their open palms together at chest height and bow slightly. Do not bow to children or a person of lower status however, as you would be embarrassing them. If you are greeting a person of high importance, bow slightly deeper.
Now that you know how to properly respect the Thai culture, you can enjoy some of the most welcoming and hospitable people in the world.
