Val d' Orcia - Tuscany - UNESCO World Heritage Sites
See the best accommodation The Val d'Orcia, or Valdorcia, is a region of Tuscany, central Italy, which extends from the hills south of Siena to Monte Amiata. It is characterised by gentle, carefully cultivated hills occasionally broken by gullies and by picturesque towns and villages such as Pienza (rebuilt as an ideal town in the 15th century under the patronage of Pope Pius II), Radicofani (home to the notorious brigand-hero Ghino di Tacco) and Montalcino (the Brunello di Montalcino is counted among the most prestigious of Italian wines). It is a landscape which has become familiar through its depiction in works of art from the Renaissance painting to the modern photograph.
In 2004 the Val d'Orcia was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites under these criteria:
Criterion (iv): The Val d'Orcia is an exceptional reflection of the way the landscape was re-written in Renaissance times to reflect the ideals of good governance and to create an aesthetically pleasing pictures.
Criterion (vi): The landscape of the Val d'Orcia was celebrated by painters from the Scuola Senese, which flourished during the Renaissance. Images of the Val d'Orcia, and particularly depictions of landscapes where people are depicted as living in harmony with nature, have come to be seen as icons of the Renaissance and have profoundly influenced the development of landscape thinking.
Orcia DOC
Within the Val d'Orcia is a strip of land following the Orcia river between the DOCG zones of Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Here the Sangiovese and Trebbiano-based wines are produced under the Orcia Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) status. The DOC red wine is composed of at least 60% Sangiovese with other local varieties, such as Abrusco, permitted to fill in the remainder of the blend. The dry white wine and Vin Santo style DOC wines are composed of at least 50% Trebbiano with other local varieties filling out the rest of the blend. All grapes destined for DOC wine production are limited to a maximum harvest yield of 10 tonnes/hectare with the finished wines required to have a minimum alcohol level of at least 12%.

This video has been recorded in cilento, in the province of salerno, campania, italy. The Cilento, land of rolling hills covered by olive trees that are reflected in the blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea, has always been a crossroads of peoples and traditions.
Crossed by lively streams, rich in chestnut and holm oak woods, in its beautiful landscape are framed small villages clinging to the rocks or lying on the sea shores.
The Cilento is part of the National Park of Cilento, Valle di Diano and Alburni.
It is the second national park in Italy for its vastness and, perhaps, the first for bio diversity.
Home of the Mediterranean diet, discovered by Ancel Keys, who lived for many years in Pioppi, has always been a destination for tourists and nature lovers who visit these places for their wild beauty.
To Acciaroli they have no doubts: for a long time a showy sign defines the town of Hemigway, the Cilentana locality. here, perhaps, he wrote the old man and the sea.
This is the land of the sirens, this is the land of myth.
The Park includes the peaks of the Alburni, Cervati and Gelbison as well as the coastal spurs of Monte Bulgheria and Monte Stella.
The floristic population of the Park is made up of about 1,800 different species of native spontaneous plants, but also the fauna is extremely diversified by virtue of the wide variety of environments present on the territory.
Coastal and mountain areas, rivers and streams, cliffs and forests, are the habitat of many faunistic communities where the presence of species of high naturalistic value often emerges, such as the peregrine falcon.
On the peaks, on the high grasslands and on the mountain cliffs, the wolf, the Golden Eagle, the Lontra, and the wild boar are frequent.
To the extraordinary naturalistic features, due to the remarkable heterogeneity of the territory, there is also the mythical and mysterious character of this land rich in history and culture:
the call of the nymph Leucosia, the beaches where the fates of Aeneas and Palinuro separated, the remains of the Greek colonies of Elea / Velia and Paestum, the splendid Certosa di Padula.
These last three sites, together with the caves of Pertosa and Castelcivita, are the main cultural attractions of national and international importance that have allowed to the Park to boast of the prestigious recognition of World Heritage of Humanity issued by UNESCO.

Trouble towing a vintage travel trailer
Had some trouble towing my 1973 Aristocrat Lo-Liner travel trailer! My trailer wiring connector wasn't working!
The issue was with a fuse. My tow hitch was installed by UHaul, and I was unable to get help from a UHaul representative on the issue, but luckily I did figure out how to fix it!
