Fatima is a small Portuguese town in the district of Santarém.

The town became famous in 1917 when three shepherd children have witnessed several times a Marian apparition. October 13, 1917 thousands of people have seen the sun miracle whirling on itself like a silver disc. Virgin have also issued three children the message of Fatima. These appearances justified the creation of the sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, instead of a famous Catholic pilgrimage.
