Chateau de LourmarinLourmarin The Château de Lourmarin is a converted castle located in the town of Lourmarin which is situated in the Vaucluse département, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France. Originally a 12th-century fortress, it was transformed in the 15th century by Foulques d'Agoult, chamberlain of King Rene I. of Anjou. After 1526 the castle belonged to Louis d’Agoult-Montauban and his wife Blanche de Lévis-Ventadour and the new annex made the building the first Renaissance building in the Provence Region. Afterwards the castle became the residence of the Créqui-Lesdiguières family, who were the lords of Château de La Tour d'Aigues. Abrivado in Vallabrix (2011)
On the last Sunday of August, what I think is the best, most elaborate abrivado of the year took place in Vallabrix, 7 kilometers north of Uzès. A team of 6 Camargue cowboys in splendid Spanish costumes, with nice smiles on their faces and easy nice words for the crowd. A real pleasure !
An (original) abrivado used to be when cowboys (from Camargue and surrounding areas like some parts of the Gard provencal) got organized to transfer their herd of bulls from one place to another, usually from pasture to pasture - or to bull festivals during the holidays season. Because they wanted to avoid the annoyance of teenagers trying to lure some bulls away (for fun...), they were crossing villages at full galop. To do that efficiently, they had to form a V structure to guide the bulls keep the teenagers away.
Nowdays they move the bulls in trucks... But the abrivados are still a traditional part of summer village festivals in the region. However not all are as well organized and as enjoyable as that last one in Vallabrix - courtesy of Olivier Boutaud from the Doma Vaquera bull farm.
ISLANDE DE GLACE et de FEU
Ce diaporama est composé de photos prises en 2012, lors d'un voyage en Islande, je suis partie en avion avec un vol low cost, et j'ai parcouru ce pays merveilleux avec mon sac à dos, en utilisant les bus qui le sillonnent j'y est retrouvé mes amis. Tous ces paysages sont gravés dans ma mémoire, que démotions devant la puissance, la beauté et la pureté des éléments. La distance qui nous sépare du monde subtil semble ici s'effacer. La vie est partout, dans le cœur de ses volcans, recouverts de leurs glaciers pour calmer le feu qui les anime, dans ces cascades majestueuses qui charrient dans un grondement d'une puissance inouïe l'eau de la fonte des glaces, dans les fumerolles, dans ces geysers qui explosent en larmes brûlantes, et cette odeur de soufre qui vous envahit... La nature y est en perpétuelle création. Je tenais à remercier de tout cœur Est motorcycles qui a dynamisé ce voyage.
