My trip to French Guiana / Devil's Island 2011
French Guiana was dubbed the Green Hell among the prisoners were serving his sentence here.
The Îles du Salut (in English: Salvation Islands) were used as a penal colony from 1852 onwards, earning them a reputation for harshness and brutality.
The islands are today restored and the visit of many tourists.
Foreign Legion also has a small base on one of the islands. They are responsible for maintenance and security.

Étape 02 : Massy – Arpajon / Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle – 30 juillet 2017.
Le chemin de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle par la voie de Tours depuis Paris.
2ème étape de Massy à Arpajon le 30 juillet 2017 départ 10h30 - 23 Km
Content d’avoir pu terminer ma première étape d’une vingtaine de kilomètres, j’appréciais ma première nuit en extérieure, dans le Parc Urbain Georges Brassens à Massy, toujours en région parisienne. À me poser malgré tout des tonnes de questions auxquelles il me faudrait trouver des réponses au plus vite.
Des questions liées à la logistique, l’organisation, la nourriture, la soif, la fatigue, le poids de mon sac à dos, l’hébergement. Mais aussi des courbatures au réveil, les premières ampoules avant que n’arrivent les premières crampes. Enfin bref, il y’avait de quoi faire pour oublier les nombreuses difficultés qui allaient jalonner mon quotidien.
Advienne que pourra, il n’était plus question de faire marche arrière, de rebrousser chemin. Je venais aussi de comprendre qu’il me faudrait une bonne dizaine de jours pour m’adapter. Quitte à couper une étape en deux et peu importe les douleurs, il me suffisait d’avancer pas à pas, tranquillement et en toute sérénité.
Après tout, ce chemin je le souhaitais comme quelque chose d’inédit où le temps ne compte plus, avec pour seul et unique objectif que d’atteindre la Galice et sa capitale Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle…

Laissons nous tenter par l’influence armoricaine d’un civet de homard et de petits crustacés au gingembre et citron vert, un Ste Maure ; délicieux fromage de chèvre et goûtons ces vins de Vouvray ou de Bourgueil. En cette fin d’été nous mordrons avec plaisir dans une délicieuse tarte aux figues fraîches.

It is one of the most frequented Gastronomical steps to follow in France. In the middle of 600 Aroma plants and vegetables and a large number of fruit trees, Bardet recommends such a refined and simple cooking at the same time, where the products honoured are chicken eggs cracked on fresh vegetables.
Let us be tempted by the Armorican influence of a jugged- lobster stew, as well as some ginger and green lemon small Crustacea and all sorts of shell-fish, what about a Ste Maure, such a delicious goat-cheese, not to forget the Vouvray or the Bourgueil wines to taste and relish. As the summer is coming to an end soon, let's bite, with pleasure, into this delicious fresh fig pie.

Motorhome in The Alps
So welcome to the first installment of the video diary of our motorhome in The Alps, we've just got off the ferry, the van is all packed up and here is France. We've got the map and it is probably going to take us about 10 hours. We pretty much go down to Reims, down to Lyon and accross to Chamberey and then up to The Alps. This is the first time I have actually driven a motorhome out here and I have to say it really is pretty easy. We've got a Chasson Flash 04 which has got cruise control which is great and makes it easy to drive than a car.
6 hours later, there's no worries because if I do get tired, I can just pull over and sleep for a bit, we've done that before on the way down. The French are much better set up for this sort of thing than we are, you can just pull over and sleep, but we are going to truck on today and probably get there at about midnight.
The following morning: Morning viewers, I thought I would just give you a quick glimpse of what the trailer park is like today. I've just had to dig myself out and currently we have had a foot and half of snow. Record snow for this year which is great for us, there's a bit of work in the morning to dig ourselves out, which is all part of the adventure.
