AMAZING KONKAN : KARNESHWAR TEMPLE, SANGAMESHWAR, RATNAGIRI | KONKAN DARSHAN | MAHARASHTRA TOURISM
Sangameshwar - Kasaba - Kalambaste Rd, Kasaba, Wada Thikanat, Maharashtra 415610
The Alaknanda, Varuna and the Shastri rivers meet at Sangameshwar. This ancient Hemadpanti style temple, has been situated for centuries at the confluence of these rivers, in the area of Sangameshwar. It is so believed that Raja Karna from the Karvir dynasty established this temple almost 1600 years ago. The Karneshwar temple is said to be one of the most beautiful temples amongst all of Konkan region
This eastward facing temple is 26 meters long and 23 meters wide. After entering through the main entrance, there is a large hall and in the adjoining area where the Shivlinga and the idol of Goddess Parvati are situated. This temple is constructed on a 1.5-meter Stone platform. The temple has 16 angles and 5 domes. The height of the fifth dome is almost 25 meters. Other than these five main domes, there are 33 other sub domes.

10) RORO rake showcasing a lovely sight at Shastri River Bridge at Sangameshwar. RORO means Roll On Roll Off, where loaded trucks are directly carried by railway wagons to their destination. Konkan Railways passes through tough terrains of India. Truck drivers find it extremely difficult to drive loaded trucks through ghats, undulating surfaces, narrow roads and poor road and weather conditions. Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) came with concept of RORO, where loaded trucks are moved on wagons and are travelled by train. This has helped in saving of fuels, decrease in wear and tear of lorries (trucks), relief to drivers of driving in extreme conditions, can reach faster to destination. This also helps in decongestion of roads and lowering of pollution. This concept has been beneficial for both truck operators and Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL).
10) A look at the scenic Sangameshwar Road Railway Station taken 10mins before Rajdhani Express was to pass. We were waiting for 10104 Mandovi Express.
11) Uniform livered 12431 Thiruvananthapuram Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express raises powerful dust storm and aggressively skips curvatious Sangameshwar Road station. The other train waiting for crossing was 50105 Diva Sawantwadi Passenger.
12) A continuous 6min clip taken from 10104 Madgaon Mumbai Cst Mandovi Express speeding through the tunnels and beautiful scenery between Chiplun and Anjani stations. Have a look at how we destroy Anjani station at above 100kph.
