  • 2. Senda del Oso Asturias
    The Senda del Oso is a 25-mile rail-trail, hiking and bicycle path running through Asturias in northern Spain, running approximately between Entragu and Santa Marina in the south to Trubia in the north, near Oviedo. Originally a mining rail line used until 1963, the Senda is now a tourist destination for the area, and was featured in a Rails to Trails article in 2010. The path goes through some of the last remaining brown bear habitat in Spain, and indeed, was partly inspired by a nearby bear conservation project.

    Bandujo is one of eight parishes in Proaza, a municipality within the province and autonomous community of Asturias, in northern Spain. It is 10.78 km2 in size with a population of 43 . The postal code is 33114. Bandujo is located at a distance of 11 km from Proaza, the capital of the council. The church of St. Mary is of medieval origin and underwent reform in the eighteenth century. The palace of Bandujo and its Tower of Tuñón or Tower of Bandujo is one of the best preserved late medieval defensive towers of Asturias. This building, which also served as a prison and town hall, was declared of cultural interest on 29 October 2009.
