We travel to Finland to compete in one of the world's wackiest competitions - the Wife Carrying World Championships! Only one problem - we don't have wives... but we have an idea!

Cross Country Skiing in the Pallas-Yllästunturi-National Park in Finnish Lapland

Tuomiokirrko and Temppeliaukio Lutheran Kirrko, Helsinki Finland

Following a devastating 19th century fire that destroyed much of Helsinki's wooden structures, the centre was rebuilt in neoclassical stone style, such as the austerely beautiful Tuomiokirrko (Lutheran Cathedral of Finland), designed by Carl Ludvig Engel in 1830 and completed in 1852. By contrast, the 1969 Temppeliaukio Kirrko (Temple Square or Rock Church), notable for its copper dome, was carved out of granitic rock. Accompanied by Canadian composer Bil Douglas's meditative O Earth, O Earth Return, this slide show becomes a study of contrasts. Included are the statuary of Russian Czar Alexander II, Protestant reformers Philipp Melanchthon and Martin Luther, and quotes by Lao Tzu, Confucius, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

ISOSTI - Erävaelluksen MM-kilpailut

100 kilometriä erävaellusta Sotkamossa. Alla 500 km ajomatka yön yli Tampereelta, 2 tuntia unta autossa ja mukana ehkä maailman epäergonomisin vaellusteltta. Ai niin, sinolikin loppui ensimmäisen päivän jälkeen, mikä hieman vaikeutti ruuanlaittoa. Täähän meni ihan kuin elokuvissa!

Vaikka oltiinkin käytännössä koko viikonlopun ajan myöhässä ja viimeisiä, niin maaliin asti päästiin ja kunnioitettavalle 17 sijalle (19 partiota). Lopussa meitä jopa haastateltiin Kainuunsanomiin ja päästiin jakamaan kullanarvoisia vinkkejä tuleville kisaajille.
