The highest hill in the region is the 345 meter high Porttivaara, the second tallest being Vuokatinvaara with its highest peak, Iso-Pölly.There is a ski resort, sports academy, and the Katinkulta resort in Vuokatti. There is also a skiing tunnel, which makes cross-country skiing possible at all seasons. Snowboarding and snowtubing tunnels can also be found there.
