Vuokatti is a village, a forested hill range and a rail transport location in Sotkamo, Kainuu, Finland. The highest hill in the region is the 345 meter high Porttivaara, the second tallest being Vuokatinvaara with its highest peak, Iso-Pölly.There is a ski resort, sports academy, and the Katinkulta resort in Vuokatti. There is also a skiing tunnel, which makes cross-country skiing possible at all seasons. Snowboarding and snowtubing tunnels can also be found there.

Kajaani is a town and municipality in Finland. It is the center and capital of the Kainuu region. It is located southeast of Oulujärvi , which drains to the Gulf of Bothnia along the Oulujoki . Hiidenportti National Park is a national park in Sotkamo in the Kainuu region of Finland. Hiidenportti National Park was established in 1982 to preserve the region's wilderness. A mosaic mix of mires and dry forests is typical landscape in this national park. The park covers 45 square kilometres . Two thirds of the area is coniferous forest. The near-natural state forests are 100–150 years old on average. The last loggings were made in the beginning of the 20th century. The most well-known attraction of the park is the Hiidenportti gulley with vertical cliffs.

On the Atlantis Cruise aboard the Eurodam, we went to this great place in Helsinki. They converted a warehouse into an Ice Bar Winterland replication of Lapland in the winter. These huskies pulled lucky visitors around the perimeter. The lead dog is very excited to get going
