Nine Maidens stone circle to Sourton Cross Travelodge Day 2
Dartmoor
Devon
England
UK
Nine Maidens stone circle officially said to be a Bronze Age stone circle but there no way to date stone circles 100% you should keep that in mind. Also said to be a burial chamber however again is said the cairn has since been robbed and the cist destroyed not sure what the evidence is for that? Any care to comment.
Its is said that locals are said to be apprehensive of restoration work, believing that tamperers will be cursed. Locals cite a film crew which added a stone to the circle in 1985 - the 'curse' was the unfortunate loss of the only copy of the film The Circle of Doom. Any one with more info on that. St Michael's ley-line runs through the Nine Maidens. A poem illustrating the folklore surrounding the stones is recorded in The Witchcraft and Folklore of Dartmoor by Ruth St Leger-Gordon, originally written by Eden Phillpotts in the Book of Avis trilogy
And now at every Hunter's Moon
That haggard cirque of stones so still
Awakens to immortal thrill
And seven small maidens in silver shoon
Twixt dark of night and white of day
Twinkle upon the sere old heath
Like living blossoms in a wreath
Then shrink again to granite grey.
So blue-eyed Dian shall ever dance
With Linnette, Bethkin, Jennifer,
Arisa, Petronell and Nance
From Nine Maidens stone circles a passed Watchet Hill Cottage ruins. The cottage was built in the 1860s by homesteaders moving on to the moor and was the remotest building included in the Church of England parish of Belstone. Watchet Hill Cottage was last occupied by non-Glastievens in the 1960s, falling into a state of ruin in the late twentieth century. The building was briefly used by the Glastieve Planning Board as the constituency office for the planned Quidam ex Acteriendia constituency, which would have been significantly smaller than present-day Glastieve and would have been centred on the north of the current country. Following the Declaration of Independece, Watchet Hill Cottage was briefly ignored, although following the January 2018 Cabinet reshuffle it became the headquarters of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works. Then onto West Cleave Tor rocks. Pick up for food at Okehampton then onto Okehampton Castle. A medieval motte and bailey castle. My accommodation for the night was at Sourton Cross Travelodge

Exploring Totnes High St Aug 2015
Last day still overcast and raining off and on.
Starts with the garden belonging to our B&B.
then walking/exploring Totnes High St. Lots of unusual
small shops, i dived into one called Revival a 2nd hand quality period clothing shop were you can buy red Top hats, Fez's, bowler hats, Pith helmets etc.
The weather put a big dampener on the day but still interesting enough we ended up in a prison just off the High St, a small local Totnes museum about the place then back down the High St.
Coniston Water Steam Gondola and Hike - FULL VIDEO -Lake District Walks
Coniston Water Steam Gondola and Hike - FULL VIDEO -Lake District Walks. A trip to the Lake District wouldn't be complete without paying a visit to a Lake, and to go one better still, the boys from Summit or Nothing have decided that the Coniston Lake Steam Gondola and Parkamore Trail Hike would be the ideal option.
Voted highly in the Guardian's Top Ten Lake District Walks, this pleasant walk takes in some spectacular views as well as the soothing boat ride across the famous Coniston Water, where the fatal Bluebird crash took the life of Donald Campbell, and also where Sir Arthur Ransom was inspired to write the much loved children's book, Swallows and Amazon's.
Sat beneath the towering Old Man Of Coniston, this walk offers some easy walking for the lads, and the ideal opportunity for Trev to begin tree spotting. Some great banter, racing mountain bikes, some fine dining an a race against time make this lake district vlog, the Coniston Water Steam Gondola Hike a hilarious and enjoyable Summit or Nothing adventure.
Haytor Quarry - Dartmoor for kids 1
My grandson's first hike on Dartmoor. Just a gentle one to begin with, to Haytor Quarry.

Lamerton parish church
This video is of the inside of St Peter's church at Lamerton, near Tavistock, Devon, UK. This is quite a large church and was the first place me and some friends visited. It is quite a large church and is on the outskirts of Lamerton village. I called it a parish church but it is actually joined on with Sydenham Damerel parish but Lamerton is still it's own parish, for now.

Day Trekking on Dartmoor - Part 2 - Black-A-Tor Copse
Two men and a dog go trekking across the beautiful scenery of Dartmoor National Park.
Trev has a new obsession, mountains. But as he lives a million miles from any mountains, he is going to get into the next best thing that his surroundings have to offer. DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK.
With the help of his friend Nath and his faithful dog Moby, Trev is introduced to the world of hiking (and exercise actually) with a day trek from Sourton Tor to High Willhays via a few other Tors and sights across the way.
In this second episode, we stop for a spot of elevensies at Black-a-Tor Copse, and Nath runs through some of the equipment he keeps
