Exmoor National Park Beautiful British Countryside In North Devon
Welcome To Exmoor & Countryside Of North Devon
========================================
This video shows some unique landscape of Exmoor and awesome countryside scenaries where we stayed.We visited many breathtaking places but didn't capture all of them.I just kept enjoying them quietly.
Our cottage surrounding was very rich in wildlife and nature & the area offers so much to discover and explore.
This Cottage was nestling in the midst of the most beautiful Devon Countryside, on the fringes of Exmoor National Park & overlooking amazing hills & valleys.Beautiful bird singing was heard frequently everywhere.
The little town of Bampton was just 3 miles away while to Tiverton it was a ten minute drive. The area also offered a wide selection of attractions including the twelfth century Tiverton Castle and Bickleigh Mill, located on the River Exe.
Welcome to Exmoor National Park
Exmoor's Wildlife
=============
Situated in the south west of Britain, Exmoor National Park contains an amazing variety of landscapes within its 267 square miles. It has a unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland, shaped by people and nature over thousands of years.
Exmoor National Park contains an extraordinary variety of wildlife and habitats. Grass and heather moorlands and peat-rich mires cover the hill tops and higher land with steeply incised wooded valleys carving through the moors.The moorland areas are internationally rare and particularly valuable for their expanses of heather, their blanket bogs, and for the wildlife they support including Dartford warblers, whinchats, stonechats, and heath fritillary butterflies.
The iconic Wild Red Deer are also found throughout Exmoor and there are plenty of opportunities to see them in the wild. Exmoor is also home to all species of native British bats. Exmoor's enclosed farmland has been managed traditionally for generations with cattle and sheep.Some of the rarest species on Exmoor such as waxcap fungi are found on the unimproved grassy slopes.
Lynmouth Village is one of the most poplular destinations in the National Park, Its spectacular setting at the mouths of the wooded gorges of the East and West Lyn rivers, hemmed in by gigantic cliffs have made it a place to visit since the era of the romantic poets in the early 19th century.
Exmoor's Landscape
================
Exmoor National Park includes some of Devon and Somerset's finest landscapes, celebrated for the natural beauty and tranquility the area offers.The contrasting elements of woodland, open moorland, mires, rivers and farmland combine to create the unique and distinguished landscape scenery, enhanced by the ever changing weather and seasonal conditions.
The local topography enriches the landscape character of Exmoor, where gently rolling open hills often crowned with heather descend into deep secluded wooded valleys or combes as they are known locally.The ancient landform has been carved by many rivers and streams, Exmoor's northern edge is defined by spectacular high coastal cliffs which create a dramatic frontier between land and sea.
The long history of human influence, underlying geology and climate have all played an important role in forming the complex patchwork of interrelated habitats and landforms visible today.The rich landscape pattern of fields, roads, settlements, buildings, earthworks and other historic landscape features tells a story of man's continuous influence on the land, from the early Neolithic over 6000 years ago to the present day. Exmoor is relatively undeveloped with many charming settlements displaying a rich variety of architecture, use of regional materials and local character.
The Exmoor landscape provides many benefits, which includes space for recreation, water and carbon storage, rich historic and cultural associations as well as providing important habitat for a multitude of plants and wildlife, including the iconic red deer.
