Vasco da Gama , often shortened to Vasco, is the largest city in the state of Goa on the west coast of India. It is named after the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. It is also the headquarters of the Mormugão taluka region. The city lies on the western tip of the Mormugao peninsula, at the mouth of the Zuari River, about 30 kilometres from Panaji, Goa's capital, and about 5 kilometres from Dabolim Airport.     Tilak Maidan Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Vasco da Gama, Goa, India. It is used mostly for football matches and regularly hosts matches in the I-League as well as local Goan league. The venue has the capacity to accommodate 6,000 spectators. The stadium is maintained by the Sports Authority of Goa. It has been upgraded satisfactorily to ensure most FIFA standards are maintained. Facilities include player changing rooms and lounge, dope control rooms and a media centre. The Stadium is used by Churchill Brothers S.C., Dempo S.C., Salgaocar S.C., Sporting Clube de Goa and FC Goa .
