A parador is a state-owned hotel in Spain. This chain of inns was founded in 1928 by the Spanish King Alfonso XIII. The unique aspects of paradores are their location and their history. Found mostly in historical buildings, such as convents, Moorish castles, or haciendas, paradores are the exact opposite of the uncontrolled development found in coastal regions like the Costa del Sol.

The Golden Triangle of Art is made up of three important art museums that are close to each other in the centre of Madrid. The three art museums are: the Prado Museum, featuring pre-20th-century art. the Reina Sofía Museum, featuring 20th century modern art. Salamanca, one of the Most Spectacular Renaissance Cities in Europe
Salamanca is a city in northwestern Spain, the capital of the Province of Salamanca in the community of Castile and León. The Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments in Salamanca's historic centre were added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 1988.
The city lies by the Tormes river on a plateau and is considered to be one of the most spectacular Renaissance cities in Europe. The buildings are constructed of sandstone mined from the nearby Villamayor quarry, and, as the sun begins to set, they glow gold, orange and pink. It is this radiant quality of the stones that has given Salamanca the nickname La Dorada, the golden city.
It is one of the most important university cities in Spain and supplies 16% of Spain's market for the teaching of the Spanish language. Salamanca attracts thousands of international students, generating a diverse environment. The University of Salamanca, which was founded in 1134, is the oldest university in Spain and the fourth oldest western university, but the first to be given its status by the Pope Alexander IV who gave universal validity to its degrees. With its 30,000 students, the university is, together with tourism, a primary source of income in Salamanca.
Shopping is a large part of life in Salamanca. Traditional family owned stores mix with many national and international retailers throughout the city. Salamanca is considered to be one of the safest cities in Spain. Violent crime is for the most part unheard of. As with the rest of Spain, you should be aware of pickpockets, but they are less common in Salamanca than in the bigger cities.

Escape the city and beautiful camping | Camino del Norte from Santander to Santillana - Day 13
On the Day 13 of our Camino de Santiago del Norte we got from the village Somo close to Santander to the village Santillana de Mar.
That morning we got up very early and quickly left the camping. The morning was absolutely stunning from the beach de Loredo with the foggy views of the city Santander, the lighthouse at the Cape and the enlightened by the morning light fluffy clouds in the background. So we had our breakfast and went to take the ferry. We finally made a decision that for our own sake and for the sake of video material we needed to escape this big city again and take the public transport to where the more natural places start. Because our aim wasn't to do every single km of the way but rather to enjoy it and to show the natural beauty of it and explore it as much as we can...
