Glacier National Park RV Campground: Columbia Falls RV Park
Glacier National Park RV Campground: Columbia Falls RV Park:
Columbia Falls RV Park is a full service RV Resort and Campground located just minutes from the west entrance to Glacier National Park.
As the name suggests, the Columbia Falls RV Park is located right at the edge of the town of Columbia Falls in northwest Montana. Columbia Falls is a beautiful little laid-back mountain town which is big on recreation and hospitality.
It also happens to be The Gateway to Glacier National Park which means you will only be a few minutes away from all of the beauty and recreational opportunities that Glacier National Park has become known for.
The town of Columbia Falls is nestled up against the northern tip of the Swan Mountain Range, and the mighty Flathead River flows through the east end of town, just down the road from the RV park, and provides ample opportunities for fun and recreation like fishing, floating, swimming and boating.
Choosing the Columbia Falls RV Park and Cabins as the basecamp for your vacation to Glacier National Park provides you with many great advantages that you might not be able to find if you chose to stay at any of the other campgrounds or RV parks in the area.
Staying at Columbia Falls RV Park puts you right in the center of all that Columbia Falls has to offer, plus you are just a quick 20 minutes drive from the town of West Glacier and the most popular entrance to Glacier National Park.
Many of the guides and outfitters that service the park and surrounding area are located along the road between Columbia Falls and West Glacier, so if you are planing to do any whitewater rafting, or fishing, or horseback riding, or any helicopter or aerial tours of the park, staying in Columbia Falls will put you in the ideal spot to access all of Glacier National Parks greatest features and attractions.
It is pretty easy to see why the Columbia Falls RV Park is the clear winner and first choice when it comes to selecting your basecamp for your Glacier National Park vacation this year.

Family Cabin Trip To Lake Wenatchee Episode 61
We went out to Lake Wenatchee for the weekend to spend some time with my family! I had a lot of fun getting out on the kayaks.
Montana Rockies 2006
My first trip through Montana on my way to Lewiston, Idaho to photograph an old fashioned McDonalds building. From 2006-2010 I drove the Jeep around the country photographing 73 old fashion McDonald's buildings, including the three remaining original buildings in Oregon and California, in what I would describe as the greatest mid life crisis ever. I was five years old when they demolished the original McDonalds building where I live, to replace it with the current design. It was traumatic and I still remember it. This video reminds me of the scene from Dumb and Dumber when they drove in the wrong direction.
Solo Road Trip 2017
July-August 2017. California. I decided to take a solo road trip. I danced in my car, spent a few days whitewater rafting the Tuolumne River (with All-Outdoors), hiked in Yosemite National Park, Point Reyes National Seashore, and Big Sur, explored California's Central Coast, spent time with friends in the Bay Area, enjoyed the Sonoma Wine Country, ate amazing food, jumped off cliffs, slid down waterfalls, and laughed a lot along the way.

Glacier National Park Best Documentary HD
Glacier National Park is a national park located in the U.S. state of Montana, on the Canada–United States border with the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. The park encompasses over 1 million acres (4,000 km2) and includes parts of two mountain ranges (sub-ranges of the Rocky Mountains), over 130 named lakes, more than 1,000 different species of plants, and hundreds of species of animals. This vast pristine ecosystem is the centerpiece of what has been referred to as the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, a region of protected land encompassing 16,000 square miles (41,000 km2).[3]
The region that became Glacier National Park was first inhabited by Native Americans. Upon the arrival of European explorers, it was dominated by the Blackfeet in the east and the Flathead in the western regions. Under pressure the Blackfoot ceded the mountainous parts of their treaty lands in 1895 to the federal government; it later became part of the park. Soon after the establishment of the park on May 11, 1910, a number of hotels and chalets were constructed by the Great Northern Railway. These historic hotels and chalets are listed as National Historic Landmarks and a total of 350 locations are on the National Register of Historic Places. By 1932 work was completed on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, later designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark, which provided greater accessibility for automobiles into the heart of the park.
The mountains of Glacier National Park began forming 170 million years ago when ancient rocks were forced eastward up and over much younger rock strata. Known as the Lewis Overthrust, these sedimentary rocks are considered to have some of the finest fossilized examples of extremely early life found anywhere on Earth. The current shapes of the Lewis and Livingston mountain ranges and positioning and size of the lakes show the telltale evidence of massive glacial action, which carved U-shaped valleys and left behind moraines which impounded water, creating lakes. Of the estimated 150 glaciers which existed in the park in the mid-19th century, only 25 active glaciers remained by 2010.[4] Scientists studying the glaciers in the park have estimated that all the glaciers may disappear by 2030 if the current climate patterns persist.
Glacier National Park has almost all its original native plant and animal species. Large mammals such as Grizzly bears, moose, and mountain goats, as well as rare or endangered species like wolverines and Canadian lynxes, inhabit the park. Hundreds of species of birds, more than a dozen fish species, and a few reptile and amphibian species have been documented. The park has numerous ecosystems ranging from prairie to tundra. Notably, the easternmost forests of western redcedar and hemlock grow in the southwest portion of the park. Large forest fires are uncommon in the park. However, in 2003 over 13% of the park burned.[5]
Glacier National Park borders Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada—the two parks are known as the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park and were designated as the world's first International Peace Park in 1932. Both parks were designated by the United Nations as Biosphere Reserves in 1976, and in 1995 as World Heritage sites.[6][7] In April 2017, the joint Park received a fourth designation with provisional Gold Tier designation as Waterton-Glacier International Dark Sky Park through the International Dark Sky Association.[8], the first transboundary dark sky park. Glacier National Park is one of seven national parks in British Columbia, and is part of a system of 43 parks and park reserves across Canada. Established in 1886, the park encompasses 1,349 km2 (521 sq mi), and includes a portion of the Columbia Mountains. It also contains the Rogers Pass National Historic Site.
The park's history is closely tied to two primary Canadian transportation routes, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), completed in 1885, and the Trans-Canada Highway, completed in 1963. The pass in the centre of the park eluded explorers until 1881. The railway brought with it tourism, the establishment of Glacier National Park and the construction of a popular alpine hotel. The heavy winter snows and steep, avalanche-prone valleys of the park have been a major obstacle to transportation, necessitating much railway engineering and avalanche control measures.
The park contains high peaks, large, active glaciers, and one of Canada's largest cave systems. Its dense forests support populations of large mammals, birds, and alpine species. The region is noted for its heavy snowfall. The park has an extensive network of trails, three campgrounds, and four backcountry huts and cabins. Due to the major transportation routes that bisect it, Glacier National Park sees large numbers of visitors.

4 THINGS TO DO IN MONTANA
Have you ever visited Montana? These are a few of my FAVORITE things to do during the wintertime when family comes into town.
Recently, my dad and sister flew to Big Sky for a weekend vacation - with only a few days to soak up the views, watch to find out what we did!
What are other things we should do + see while in Montana? Tell us in the comments below! We'd love to hear from you. :)
1.) Fuel up in Big Sky, Montana - We grabbed lunch at the Hungry Moose Market in the main town center of Big Sky.
- This tiny market has super fresh ingredients, tasty baked goods, smoothies, and delicious coffee. You can even grab a few snacks to-go from their deli + grocery store.
- They have two locations in Big Sky which you can learn about here:
- Also, you can literally fuel up your car + camper at Big Sky! There are two gas stations in town which make a great pit stop on the way to your next destination.
2.) Rent Snowshoes - Snowshoeing is a fun way to pass the time during the winter months in Montana.
- Pack a backpack with water, rent a pair of snowshoes, wear sunblock + a hat, and enjoy the great outdoors.
- Our snowshoes were ~$5 per day at East Slope Outdoors in Big Sky, Montana. Visit their website here:
- Just remember to check that they work properly before heading out on your wintertime adventure!
- We hiked the Bighorn Pass Trail in between Big Sky and West Yellowstone: Bring bear spray if it's late spring!
3.) Drive Through Yellowstone - We drove through Gardiner, Montana and entered Yellowstone National Park from the northern entrance. It's a great place to enter the park because you can actually drive through the Roosevelt Arch, see a thermal feature right away (Mammoth Hot Spring), and work your way over to Lamar Valley where animals are known to gather. We spotted bison, elk, deer, and more!
- Watch my other winter road trip to Yellowstone National Park:
4.) Ski Big Sky Resort - My dad was a beginner skiier and did the bunny hill the entire day. During the 2016/2017 winter season, I worked at Big Sky Resort all winter long and skiied most of the mountain!
- Learn about my experience working at a ski resort here:
- See what it looks like from the top of the Big Sky Resort tram here:

About Me: Last year, I fell in love with skiing and picked up a part-time seasonal job at a Montana Ski Resort for the Winter 2016/2017 season. Prior to moving to Montana, I lived in NYC for five years and worked at a large advertising and marketing agency. Originally from Florida, living near the Rocky Mountains has been an incredible opportunity. Throughout the winter, I'll be documenting my experience working at a ski resort and also as a freelance marketing consultant. Thanks for following along! PS - I learned how to ski a year ago at 28 years old. :)

Backpacking Montana's Bob Marshall Wilderness: Chinese Wall/White River Pass/Larch Hill Loop
This was a 6 day backpacking trip in Montana's Bob Marshall Wilderness, part of the northern Rocky Mountains. We did a loop out of Benchmark. We went up over White River Pass, camped and hiked up along the White River to Larch Hill Pass, and then walked underneath the Chinese Wall back to Benchmark to finish the loop. We saw very few people, had an interesting experience with black bears in our camp, and stayed pretty dry despite the weather being all over the place for this trip. We did the trip in June of 2019.
Travis put together his own video for this trip, it's much better than mine.

Montana Rooted: A FINE LINE
Every year in late spring, the small tributary creeks that feed Montana's epic rivers become engorged with enough runoff to support small-boat travel. The catch is that it takes nerves of steel and a stout heart to run these raging chutes. As this short film from Elements Mixed Media demonstrates, there is no shortage of those traits in Montana's kayaking community.
