Lava Flow, Isaac Hale Park, Pohoiki Bay, HI - 2-18-2019
Spared from the 2018 Lava Flow, this drone video is of the extensive lava flow to the Pohoiki Bay. Look for the picnic table spared from the lava flow near where the road is blocked off. The lava flow is still steaming in some spots.

CSAV Hawaii: Floods vs Drought in Hilo
This video showcases astonishing footage of the 1994 & 2000 floods in Hilo, comparing these to dry conditions in February 2010. Hilo is notorious for being the wettest city in Hawaii, with rain averaging 130 to 200 inches per year at various elevations. But to truly appreciate the floods, you need to see the riverbeds when they are dry; hence this video. To learn more about floods in the Aloha State, visit CSAVs Natural Hazards Hawaii web site, at
More flood videos coming soon! Mahalos to contributing videographers Ed Sorenson, Clyde Notley, David Phillips, David King, Dave Whilldin, Al Honda, and Don Whitely.

A Hilo dawn
We left the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel just before dawn, walking through the Liliuokalani Gardens next door, then along the bay towards Hilo town. This short video view starts and ends with the hotel visible in the background, and pans across the bay to downtown Hilo with the sun reflected from upper slopes of Mauna Kea in the background.
Why I love Hilo
Hilo is one of those places in the world that has its own identity. Its real, and its unique and it inspires people. There is many beautiful places within a few miles of my house, and I thought I would share a little bit of Hilo culture with you. Welcome to Hawaii, the crossroads between east and west. Enjoy!
Aloha!
