Hawaii's aquarium fish industry in deep water
A proposed bill in Hawaii has ignited renewed discussion about the impact of the state's largest aquarium fishery, which catches hundreds of thousands of gem-like saltwater fish each year. Supporters say the industry is sustainable and regulated. But environmental activists say the practice is destructive and depletes populations of popular fish species.

Hawaiian coral reefs mirror impacts of ocean warming and acidification
The Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology monitors the effects of global warming, pollutants and changing ocean pH levels on coral and other marine life. Coral is an indicator of a healthy - or stressed - ocean environments and the institute is the hub for all of the major coral reef research in the United States.
Scientists and research students at the institute study a variety of subject areas including coral genetics, the impacts of climate change, rising ocean temperatures, ocean acidification and coral bleaching.
Coral have sweeping economic and cultural value and offer coastal protection. The coral reefs near Hawaii are among the most vast and the healthiest in the world. Damage to the coral reefs and ocean ecosystems is a direct indicator of global impacts such as global warming. On a larger scale, the impacts on marine life influence the food supply and people's lives in numerous ways.
Waikiki Hawaii Reef GoPro Raw Footage: Filmed off Hilton Hawaiian Village
Waikiki Hawaii Reef GoPro Raw Footage: Filmed off Hilton Hawaiian Village
I post shorter clips of my dives on my BeanMeister22 channel, but people often ask me for the raw underwater footage, rather than the shorter (less boring) raw clips. This is a GoPro raw video clip of a single die out to the other side of the reef just off Hilton Hawaiian Village. The sounds you hear are the sounds you would have heard, if you were there yourself, although some of the sounds are slightly amplified by the protective hard-shell of the GoPro Hero3 Camera. These are mostly the “bumping” sounds you hear. Also, in addition to the water sounds, my noisy self, you can hear the sounds of a sightseeing tour boat pulling into the Port Hilton dock.

Oʻahu (pronounced [oˈʔɐhu]) or Oahu /oʊˈɑːhuː/, known as The Gathering Place, is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands; however, it is home to about two-thirds of the population of the U.S. state of Hawaii, and is the home of Honolulu International Airport. The state capital, Honolulu, is on Oʻahu's southeast coast. Including small close-in offshore islands such as Ford Island and the islands in Kaneohe Bay and off the eastern (windward) coast, it has a total land area of 596.7 square miles (1,545.4 km2), making it the 20th largest island in the United States

Facts about the Moray; Aqua Life Episode 1
Hello YouTube this is Kevin Kupelian of Aquatography. This was probably one of my favorite videos as of yet to make. Facts about the Moray features 8 fun facts about the Green Moray Eel.
The footage is all my own and was taken July 17, 2015 at the Seas Aquarium in Epcot. If you like these types of informational videos let me know in the comment section below, or by liking and subscribing.
New videos are released every week and usually feature a different animal assosiated with both fresh water and salt water. Occasionally I feature land animals as well for those that love wild life a little drier.

To fully explore and understand the ocean, we can no longer rely on a handful of large, expensive research vessels and vehicles. We truly need all hands on deck to do it.
On November 8-9, 2018, we brought together leaders and changemakers in ocean exploration, entertainment, recreation, and art to imagine new ways to empower an open, inclusive global community of ocean explorers. Our goal is to imagine creative ways to make the ocean so pervasive in modern culture that everyone has a positive association with and understanding of the sea.
