San Mateo Park, California by Drone - Presented by Ed Stephens
One of this country’s best kept secrets, San Mateo Park, is one of the most beautiful and unique residential communities within The United states. While known within its’ immediate vicinity, San Mateo park remains virtually unknown to the outside world, a secluded enclave, vigilant against the encroachment of progress and change.
San Mateo Park is located on the San Francisco Peninsula, 20 miles south of San Francisco, adjacent to the towns of Hillsborough and Burlingame, and within a short commute to Silicon Valley, and Biotech companies.
San Mateo Park was originally a part of the Mexican Land Grant, Rancho San Mateo. In the late 19th century, San Mateo Park was a dairy land cattle ranch owned by the Clark family, remembered by spectacular gateway to San Mateo Park, Clark Drive.
San Mateo Park was founded in 1896, when the City Beautiful movement was at its’ peak. Noted architect George Howard Jr. teamed with Landscape architect, John McLaren, the designer of Golden Park, E. W. McClellan, the founder of McClellan’s nursery, and City Planner Davenport Bromfield, the Planner for such communities as Carmel California, to create a residential community that would stand out as one of the foremost tributes to residential design excellence.
Together, this stellar team laid out the narrow, gently winding streets with every intersection meeting at a landscaped circle, crescent, or square, with most streets also having wide landscaped medians Thousands and thousands of trees, selected by McLaren and Mclellan, and many transplanted from the San Francisco World Fair, were planted on the formerly barren landscaped. Noted architects, Bernard Maybeck, Willis Polk, and Julia Morgan designed magnificent country homes, many in the arts and crafts style, most now restored to their former glory. 120 years later, The Park, as San Mateo Park is called by its’ residents and admirers has achieved and faithfully secured the vision of its’ illustrious founders and architects. The now tree canopied roads that meander through the gently rolling foothills, and the now lush circles, crescents and squares are sheltered beneath towering Palms, Pines, oaks, and among many other trees from around the world.
Once within San Mateo Park, the bustling outside world is non-existent, as one is enveloped in a bucolic, private environment of un-president Beauty and charm.

Foster City, California - Crossing the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge HD (2014)
The San Mateo–Hayward Bridge (commonly called the San Mateo Bridge) is a bridge crossing the U.S. state of California's San Francisco Bay, linking the San Francisco Peninsula with the East Bay. The bridge's west end is in Foster City, a suburb on the eastern edge of San Mateo. The east end of the bridge is in Hayward. It is the longest bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area and the 25th longest in the world by length. The bridge is owned by the state of California, and is maintained by Caltrans, the state highway agency. Further oversight is provided by the Bay Area Toll Authority.
The bridge is part of State Route 92, whose western terminus is at the town of Half Moon Bay on the Pacific coast. It links Interstate 880 in the East Bay with U.S. Route 101 on the Peninsula. It is roughly parallel to and lies between the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge and the Dumbarton Bridge, and is sometimes used by commuters to avoid traffic delays due to emergencies on those bridges.

About South San Francisco:
South San Francisco is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States, located on the San Francisco Peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area. The population was 63,632 at the 2010 census.[7]
South San Francisco is located at 37°39′22″N 122°25′32″W (37.655983, -122.425525)[9]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 30.2 square miles (78 km2), of which, 9.1 square miles (24 km2) of it is land and 21.0 square miles (54 km2) of it (69.69%) is water.
South San Francisco lies north of San Bruno and San Francisco International Airport in the Colma Creek valley south of Daly City, Colma, Brisbane, and San Bruno Mountain; east of Pacifica and the hills of the northern Coast Range lying along the San Andreas Fault; west of the waters of San Francisco Bay. Locals often refer to the town as South City, in much the same way that San Francisco is called The City. Belying the name, South San Francisco does not touch on San Francisco, with either Brisbane, Colma, or Daly City lying between them.
Most of the valley faces east toward San Francisco Bay, affording bay views from higher levels. South San Francisco has mild winters and dry cool summers. The hills to the west shield the eastern parts of the city from some of the fog that prevails in neighboring areas.
The population grew from 4,411 in 1920 to 67,009 in 2014.[10]. It has tripled since World War II with the opening of such subdivisions as Buri Buri, Winston Manor and Westborough on the slopes west of El Camino;
The city is particularly noted for the South San Francisco hillside sign on Sign Hill, which rises to the north of the city, with large white letters that proclaim South San Francisco, The Industrial City. The sign, a tribute to the city's industrial past, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[11]

Sample message:
Dear Supervisors:
I would like to express my support for improved public access to the San Francisco Public Utility Commission's Peninsula Watershed. This issue is very important to me and my family. The public has been closed off from the Watershed’s scenic, historical and recreational experiences for too long. Please do what you can to help achieve access reform.
I support the resolution (SFBOS file # 160183) to allow responsible access to the SFPUC watershed lands over existing service road such as Fifield-Cahill Ridge, Pilarcitos Road, Whiting Ridge, Old Cañada, and to historical sites for the following reasons:
-Access to the watershed’s existing dirt roads would allow hikers, cyclists and equestrians to visit the area’s largest and most scenic unused, publicly held open space, integrating National, State and County parklands across the San Francisco Peninsula.
-At this time there are no significant, scientific concerns over water security, fire safety or environmental stewardship. Prior to opening a complete environmental investigation will surface any environmental issues that need to be addressed.
-The “trails, dirt roads actually, are currently used by SFPUC trucks on a daily basis. They could easily be designated as a trail system, much as is done in the Marin County and Santa Clara County Watersheds.
Please also retire the mandatory docent system. There are times when we will need to enjoy these lands with out being forced into a large group. This approach works well in other watershed lands across the state, there's no reason it shouldn't work on the Peninsula.
For San Franciscans: Please ask for support of Resolution 160183 and for SFPUC to work cooperatively with San Mateo County to improve access to the watershed.
For San Mateo County residents: Please ask for support of expanded access and see to it that our County works cooperatively with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, The San Francisco Planning department and the GGNRA to achieve access reform.
Thank you for your public service.

the Golden Gate, the one-mile-wide (1.6 km) strait connecting San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The structure links the American city of San Francisco, California – the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula – to Marin County, carrying both U.S. Route 101 and California State Route 1 across the strait. The bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco, California, and the United States. It has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.[7]
The Frommer's travel guide describes the Golden Gate Bridge as possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world.[8][9] At the time of its opening in 1937, it was both the longest and the tallest suspension bridge in the world, with a main span of 4,200 feet (1,280 m) and a total height of 746 feet (227 m).
