As I was going through my computer, I discovered a bunch of videos that, for some reason, I never uploaded. Over the last few weeks I have decided to upload all the videos to my channel, and dub them 'The Lost Edits'. On todays Lost Edit, we go back from Phoenix to Southern California. Sadly, I didn't get all the way back to LA and stopped in Ontario, and I have no footage leading to LA except in broad daylight and it would have made for a weird edit. See my previous video for the historic information regarding this road.
My new ride along series does away with all signage and places you in the front-row seat of amazing views, historic drives, and other amazing adventures that would be blocked or diminished by the addition of signage. Let me know if you enjoy it by liking this video and letting me know on Twitter!
Thanks for watching!

US Highway 66 is the road that needs no introduction. Originally running from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, CA, the road traveled more then two thousand miles all the way. The road rose to fame with the Dust Bowl of the 1930's because of residents seeking a better life in Los Angeles. In The Grapes of Wrath, the road was given the nickname of 'The Mother Road', and was made into a musical tune by the Nat Cole Trio's hit '(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66.
The road traveled eight states, and out of 2400 miles, Arizona had the longest stretch of highway, spanning 401 approximate miles across the northern half of the state. Out of those 401 miles, 158 are still linked together making for the longest continuous, uninterrupted segment of Route 66 between the State Line and Ash Fork. The oldest alignment of the road entered at Topock, then traveled northeast to Oatman, situated in the black mountains (known for wild burros), through the city of Kingman. Departing Kingman, the road traveled through Peach Springs and Seligman, the town credited with saving Arizona's stretch, mostly along modern Arizona State Route 66 (the portion in Yavapai County has been returned to the county for maintenance.
It then enters Williams, the gateway to the Grand Canyon, and shortly thereafter Flagstaff, the 'capital' of Northern Arizona. It then passed Winona and Winslow before reaching Holbrook and Chambers and eventually the New Mexico State Line at Lupton, where is picks up the New Mexico State Route number of 118 at the state line.
Today we traverse closer to Flagstaff. We trade the dry, arid desert for the beautiful pine trees of Northern Arizona as we approach Williams. We slowly gain another 1500ft in elevation, pushing us to 6700ft above sea level as we enter the town of Williams. After stopping for the night, we continue on our trek to Flagstaff, passing Parks and the ghost town of Bellemont.

Forty-three miles east of the giant 12,633 foot tall Flagstaff Mountain at Flagstaff Arizona lies a very huge hole, 570 feet deep, and nearly three miles in circumference, named Meteor Crater. But also referred to as Barringer Crater within the science community, in honor of geologist Daniel Barringer.
Barringer whom was a geologist, a lawyer, meteorologist and mining company owner, officially had this site proclaimed as a meteor crash site in the year 1902.

Walnut Canyon is a wide open tract of forest service land right next to the Walnut Canyon national monument. This place is very quiet with private spots right off a well maintained paved road. Big enough for any rig and just down the road from Flagstaff, this is a prime camping spot if you are in the area!
