Portal is an unincorporated community in Cochise County, Arizona, United States. It lies 25 miles south-southeast of San Simon and at the mouth of Cave Creek Canyon on the east side of the Chiricahua Mountains. Often called the Yosemite of Arizona, the rock walled canyon is composed of fused volcanic tuff.The community is a popular location for birding in southeastern Arizona. 1. Cave Creek Canyon Portal
This is a list, which includes a photographic gallery, of some of the remaining structures and monuments, of historic significance in Cave Creek, a town in Maricopa County, Arizona. Cave Creek was first inhabited by the ancient Native-American tribe known as the Hohokam. The area, which in the 1800s belonged to Mexico, was ceded to the United States in what is known as the Mexican Cession of 1848. Cave Creek is located within the area which became known as the United States Territory of Arizona. In 1986, The Town of Cave Creek was incorporated. Some of the structures are listed in the National Register of Historic Properties.

2. Kartchner Caverns State Park Benson
Kartchner Caverns State Park is a state park of Arizona, United States, featuring a show cave with 2.4 miles of passages. The park is located 9 miles south of the town of Benson and west of the north-flowing San Pedro River. Long hidden from view, the caverns were discovered in 1974 by local cavers, assisted by a state biologist who helped in its preservation. The park encompasses most of a down-dropped block of Palaeozoic rocks on the east flank of the Whetstone Mountains. The caverns are carved out of limestone and filled with spectacular speleothems which have been growing for 50,000 years or longer, and are still growing. Careful and technical cave state park development and maintenance are designed to preserve the natural cave system.

Chiricahua National Monument is a unit of the National Park System located in the Chiricahua Mountains of southeastern Arizona. The monument was established on April 18, 1924, to protect its extensive hoodoos and balancing rocks. The Faraway Ranch, which was owned at one time by Swedish immigrants Neil and Emma Erickson, is also preserved within the monument.

Fort Bowie was a 19th-century outpost of the United States Army located in southeastern Arizona near the present day town of Willcox, Arizona. The remaining buildings and site are now protected as Fort Bowie National Historic Site. Fort Bowie was established by the California Volunteers in 1862 after a series of engagements between the California Column and the Chiricahua Apaches. The most violent of which was the Battle of Apache Pass in July 1862. The fort was named in honor of Colonel George Washington Bowie commander of the 5th Regiment California Volunteer Infantry who first established the fort. Robson's Mining World! Amazing Historic Location in Arizona

Robson's Mining World was an amazing historic mine to visit! Tons of Old Mining Equipment, historic vehicles, famous works of art, unique buildings, Yavapai Apache Petroglyphs, a Saguaro Cactus forest in the Sonoran desert, and more!

This place had so much to see at it! Tons of old engines, historic trucks, a wagon from the 1750's, rocks, gems, old books including a Mark Twain first edition, old buildings, and beautiful scenery.

It's only about 25 minutes from Wickenburg, Arizona. Robson's Ranch & Mining Camp is one of the best preserved original mining claims in Arizona.

The first claim to mine was in 1917 and was called the Gold Leaf Mine. In 1924, the mine changed hands to Ned Creighton who renamed it the Nella-Meda Mine.

Take the time to go to Robson's Mining World! One of my favorite historic sites in Arizona!

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in western Colorado is one of hidden treasures of the North America. This canyon is called Black because some parts of the gorge only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day. The canyon is incredibly steep, it’s more than 2000 feet tall and it is probably one of the deepest and narrowest canyons I have ever seen in my life.
